Part ? Episcleral vein diameter in normal adults Purpose:To measure episcleral vein diameter in normal adults and provide reference value.Methods:60 normal adults(110 eyes)had anterior segment camera procedure to obtain images of episcleral vein.Computer software photoshop version 6 was used to measure episcleral vein diameter.The measuring points were 3mm,4mm,5mm distance from the limbus of superior location.Mean±standard deviation of episcleral vein diameter was calculated by SPSS 19.0.One Way ANOVA and LSD adjustment was performed to compare results between each measuring point;Statistic analysis of the parameters of episcleral vein diameter based on the age,gender,right and left eyes was performed.Independent sample t test was performed to evaluate the difference between different gender and right and left eyes.ANOVA was performed to evaluate the difference in each age group.Results:The measuring values of episcleral vein diameter in three measuring points were as followed:(79.23±16.01)?m,(90.33±19.85)?m,(104.00±22.70)?m.Episcleral vein diameter increases with the distance from the limbus.There were significant differences in different measuring point(F=42.153,P<0.001).LSD adjustment revealed significant difference in diameter in each of two measuring point(P<0.001).There were no significant differences of episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point among different age groups(P>0.05).There were no significant differences of episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point between right and left eyes(P>0.05).There were no significant differences of episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point between different genders(P>0.05).Conclusion:Episcleral vein diameter in normal adults in three measuring points from the limbus were: 3mm(79.23±16.01)?m,4mm(90.33±19.85)?m,5mm(104.00±22.70)?m.Episcleral vein diameter increases with the distance from the limbus.Different age,gender,right and left eyes have no significant effect on episcleral vein diameter in normal adults.Part ? Correlation analysis of episcleral vein diameter in normal adults Purpose:To explore the correlation between axial length,refraction power,intraocular pressure(IOP),central corneal thickness(CCT),blood pressure and episcleral vein diameter in normal adults.Methods:70 eyes of 36 normal subjects were brought into analysis.Photoshop was used to measure episcleral vein diameter.The measuring points were 3mm,4mm,5mm distance from the limbus of superior location.Lenstar was used to measure axial length and CCT.Non-contact tonometer was used to measure IOP.Electronic sphygmomanometer was used to measure blood pressure.Pearson correlation was used to evaluate the correlation between axial length,refraction power,IOP,CCT,blood pressure and episcleral vein diameter.Results:The correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between axial length and episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point,statistical values were as followed: 3mm(r=0.220,P=0.070),4mm(r=-0.042,P=0.731),5mm(r=-0.072,P=0.567);The correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between refraction power and episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point,statistical values were as followed: 3mm(r=-0.093,P=0.446),4mm(r=0.062,P=0.613),5mm(r=0.058,P=0.645);The correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between IOP and episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point,statistical values were as followed: 3mm(r=0.098,P=0.425),4mm(r=0.129,P=0.286),5mm(r=0.135,P=0.284);The correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between CCT and episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point,statistical values were asfollowed: 3mm(r=-0.079,P=0.521),4mm(r=-0.065,P=0.595),5mm(r=-0.047,P=0.711);The correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between systolic pressure and episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point,statistical values were as followed: 3mm(r=0.017,P=0.887),4mm(r=0.102,P=0.401),5mm(r=0.124,P=0.327).The correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between diastolic pressure and episcleral vein diameter in each measuring point,statistical values were as followed: 3mm(r=-0.083,P=0.497),4mm(r=0.050,P=0.681),5mm(r=0.114,P=0.366).Conclusion:No significant correlations were found between values of axial length,refraction power,IOP,CCT and episcleral vein diameter.No significant correlations were found between values of blood pressure and episcleral vein diameter.
