Objective The meta-analysis aimed to explore the association between TUG1 levels and overall survival(OS)and clinicopathological characteristics of cancer. Methods Computer search before October 31,2018 published in the CBM,CNKI,Pubmed,Embase,Cochoran Library and Web of Science databases on the clinical and pathological features and prognosis of TUG1 and malignant tumor patients, according to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria through the key retrieval. The words systematically collected qualified research, using the Newcastle-Ottawa literature quality evaluation system to evaluate the quality of the included documents.Extract the relevant data needed in the literature and calculate the combined total risk ratio(HR),odds ratio(OR)and its 95% confidence interval(CI)using Stata14.0 software. Results A total of 3071 patients from 28 qualified studies were included in the final meta-analysis.Overall,a close association both TUG1 and overall survival(OS)time [HR=1.68,95%CI(1.29,2.20),P=0.000]was observed.Subgroup meta-analysis indicated that subgroup-analysis of cancer types, including digestive system[HR=1.39,95%CI(1.01,1.91),P=0.044],urinary system[HR=2.54,95%CI(1.58,4.07),P=0.000]and acute myeloid leukemia [HR=2.49,95%CI(1.64,3.78),P=0.000],TUG1 expression is related to prognosis in patients, but it is no obvious relationship between TUG1 expression and prognosis in lung cancer patients [HR=1.04,95%CI(.0.50,2.17),P=0.972].The results of meta-analysis about clinicopathological features of tumor showed that, there were significant diversity of TUG1 expression in the following contrasts: clinical stages ?-? vs.clinical stages ?-? [OR=0.24,95%CI(0.14,0.41),P=0.000],lymph node metastasis vs.non-lymph node metastasis [OR=1.86,95%CI(1.27,2.74),P=0.002] as well as distant metastasis vs.non-distant metastasis [OR=4.73,95%CI(2.24,10.01),P=0.000].While no obvious significance were found with the degree of differentiation [OR=1.82,95%CI(0.53,6.28),P=0.342],gender [OR=0.91,95%CI(0.70,1.18),P=0.491] and with age [OR=0.97,95%CI(0.63,1.50),P=0.889].Conclusion The overexpression of lncRNA TUG1 is associated with some clinicopathological features and prognosis in tumor patients, and it could be known as a poor prognostic biomarker for malignant tumors, which can provid new light on diagnostics, therapeutics and prognosis assessment in tumors.
