It is an important part of brain science research that the use of brain imaging technology explores the structure and functional characteristics of the brain. In this paper,fMRI data were used to construct brain functional network, and complex network theory as well as cascading failure theory were adopted to explore disorder of brain functional network in patients with JME.Firstly, the MRI date and DTI data of JME group and normal controls group were collected to analyze the differences of gray matter volume and white matter fiber bundle integrity. The results showed that, the JME group had abnormal brain tissue structure and some brain regions compared with the normal control group. Some brain areas, such as temporal lobe, occipital lobe, parietal lobe, frontal lobe and fusiform gyrus, also had atrophy of gray matter volume and damage of white matter fibers. It had been proved that patients with JME had extensive brain tissue damage.Secondly, the Pearson correlation coefficient was used to construct the brain functional network of JME group and normal control group. The differences of attributes of the two brain functional networks were analyzed based on complex network theory. The results showed that, both groups exhibited the “small-world”properties,but the “small-world” property of patients with JME were weakened. The cluster coefficient and global efficiency of JME group were lower than those of normal control group. The shortest path length and local efficiency of JME group were higher than those of normal control group. The decrease of cluster coefficient and the increase of local efficiency indicated that the remote connection in the brain network was weakened. The brain spontaneously strengthened the connection of adjacent brain regions in order to achieve its overall function. The decrease of global efficiency and the increase of shortest path length indicated that the transmission loss of brain information in the global scope was increased and information transmission rate was slowed down. Finally,we studied the disorder of brain functional network of patients with JME based on the CLM cascading failure model, and explored which brain areas damage were related to the disorder of brain functional network in patients with JME.In this paper, eleven brain areas were selected for simulation. The network efficiency of normal control group was calculated after the injury of brain areas, and the result wascompared with JME group. The result showed that, after the injury of the right caudal area of inferior parietal lobule in the normal control group, the local and global efficiency of the brain functional network were similar to those in the JME group. It has been proved that the right caudal area of inferior parietal lobule may be one of the most important brain areas which lead to disorder of brain network of patients with JME.It may play an important role in the connection of brain areas and the transmission of information.
