Objective:HIV infection continues to be a major global public health problem, with more than 35 million deaths so far.Since 2008,China's Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Health have launched major national science and technology projects related to AIDS prevention and control, and have made key investments in the field of HIV vaccines. The current method for clinical treatment is Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy(),but the efficacy is limited.Currently,54% and 43% of HIV-infected adults and children require life-long HAART.The emergence of HIV broadly neutralizing antibodies(bnAbs)has given hope to AIDS vaccine research. This article provides information on the technical competition of AIDS bnAbs by knowing the patent status of AIDS bnAbs and provides information for the development of AIDS bnAbs in China. Methods : The Derwent Innovation was used as search tool,(broadly neutralizing antibod* OR Broadly-neutralizing antibod* OR bNAb*)AND(HIV OR Human Immunodeficiency Virus OR AIDS OR Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome)AND vaccin* were search words.309 patents were selected and they belong to 45 patent family. Results : The first patent application was in 1993,and it showed a downward trend after reaching its peak in 2011.The most important target markets are the United States and Europe. The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, the Scripps Research Institute,US Health,Duke university,University of California(Santa Cruz),Children's Medical Center and New York university are main players. The top three inventors are Haynes Barton F from Duke University,Phogat Sanjay K and Hoffenberg Simon are from the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative. The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative has applied for 10 joint ventures with other agencies, and the Scripps Research Institute has applied for 8 other organizations, indicating that these two institutions have invested heavily in the research and development of AIDS bnAbs.In terms of the number of inventors, the National Institutes of Health's research and development team is the largest, and there are 17 inventors in a single patent. This is followed by Duke university and Santa Cruz University of California.According to the analysis of the same family patent,EP3323427A1,US9950060B2,JP06323718B2,US9796774B2,US20180057570A1,US9963501B2,US20180072797A1,AU2013315631B2,CN102892783 B,US20180099041A1,EP1466924B9 have high economic value.By patent citation analysis,WO2012030904A2,WO2012030904A2,WO2010107939A2,WO2011100700A2,US5763574 A,WO1994002626A1,US20120045472A1,WO2012040562A2,WO2012158948A1 are relatively important and are leaders in the field.US20170252429A1,US20180072797A1,WO2017133640A1,CN106459186 A,WO2017023857A1,WO2016065252A3,IN201505339P1,WO2017007646A1,US20160033532A1,EP3068427A1,EP2848937A1 are new technologies that have emerged since 2014.It can be seen from the content analysis that the field has a certain technical foundation and is in the process of improvement. Conclusion and advise:From the above results,it can be concluded that a new generation of AIDS vaccine research has entered the era of bnAbs.This means that it is possible to find an HIV vaccine, but it does not mean that there will be a vaccine soon. The idea of passive immunization(treat)may be easier to succeed than the idea of active immunization. It is recommended that the government increase the funding for passive immunization(treatment)vaccine research, and our R&D institutions should also focus on vaccines for passive immunization(treatment)ideas.
