PART ONE TREATMENT OF ACNE VULGARIS WITH INTENSE PULSED LIGHT AND 595 NM PULSED DYE LASERBackground and objectiveAcne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of sebaceous gland, many factors can contribute to it.As the stress in people's life increases greatly, the high prevalence of acne vulgaris has increased.A large number of laser and light therapy have been increasingly used for the treatment of acne to meeting the increasing demands. We designed a split face, randomized controlled trial to compare the efficacy and safety of intense pulsed light(IPL)and pulsed dye laser(PDL)for the treatment of acne vulgaris.MethodsTwenty-one patients with acne vulgaris were enrolled in this study.IPL was randomly used on one side of the face and PDL on the other side, according to the degree of skin lesions to choose a proper parameter at 2weeks interval for four treatment sessions, and a follow-up visit after 2weeks of the final treatment.VISIA data ? acne lesion counts ?complications.ResultsFor the VISIA data, porphyrins ? erythema and pores decreased following both treatments and spots decreased at IPL sides.PDL-treated sides showed better improvements at early stage and do better in erythema;IPL-treated sides performed better than PDL sides in pore minimizing and whitening.Numbers of total acne lesions decreased in both treatments, and PDL produced better in acne with nodules and cysts. The complications of IPL was focused on slightly erythema and pain,on the contrary side, the adverse reactions mainly include erythema?pain and purpura.ConclusionBoth IPL and PDL treatments were effective and safe for acne vulgaris.PDL reduced faster in early stage and produced better in erythema and acne with nodules and cysts,IPL showed a better results in pore minimizing and whitening.PART TWO COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF 595 NM PULSED DYE LASER AND 595 NM PULSED DYE LASER COMBINED WITH GLYCOLIC ACID IN THE TREATMENT OF ACNE VULGARISBackground and objectiveThe morbidity of acne is keep increasing in recent years. There are many different treatments for acne recently, but we use combination therapy in the clinical work usually, because of the other therapies such as oral drugs and physical therapies can not work well as combination therapy.595 nm pulsed dye laser and glycolic acid all show impressive results respectively, but there are a few reports about combination. To observe the clinical efficacy of 595 nm pulsed dye laser and 595 nm pulsed dye laser combined with glycolic acid on patient with acne vulgaris,we designed this clinical trial.Methods60 patients were divided randomly into two groups, one group was treated by 595 nm pulsed dye laser only with 3 weeks interval, for 4 times;the combination treated group use 595 nm pulsed dye laser and glycolic acid alternatively 2 times with 3 weeks interval.Acne lesion counts were recorded at baseline and follow-up visit.ResultsThe total effective rates of two groups were 50.00%,77.00%respectively,and there are significant statistic difference between them.(?~2 = 4.59,P< 0.05).Conclusion595nm pulsed dye laser combined with glycolic acid can improve the treatment effect of acne vulgaris.
