Objective: To investigate the upper airway and hyoid bone of three sagittal skeletal patterns at the peak of growth and development with CBCT,to analyze the correlation of upper airway and hyoid bone in patterns at the peak of growth and development, and to provide reference for the rational and effective scheme in dental clinical. Methods: From February 2014 to October 2016,67 patients at the peak of growth and development were selected from orthodontic department in hospital of stomatology, age range for 10 to 15 years old.For this study,They were divided into 3 groups by ANB selected as research subjects,Class?(0.7°?ANB?4.7°)?Class?(ANB>4.7°)?Class?(ANB<0.7°)? The individuals were informed of the study and agreed to participate. All the patients were informed and agreed to take part in.Under uniform conditions shooting CBCT,saving data samples of CBCT three-dimensional imageand and importing into Invivo Dental 5 software, the mid-sagittal plane was fixed through thecenter of the anterior nasal spine and the posterior midpoint of the spine. The upper airway was divided into three segmentations by the reference planes. The airway dimensions were evaluated by various measurement indicators, includingheight, volumes,Min cross-sectional area,Antero-posterior dimension of the cross sections,Lateral dimension of the cross sections(LAT).In the mid-sagittal view, landmarks were defined for following work. The measurements of hyoid bone and facial pattern were taken by 7 linear and 2 angular measurements. All data were input into SPSS 21.0 software for statistical.Results:1.The height(H),antero-posterior dimension of the cross sections(AP)and lateral dimension of the cross sections(LAT)of airway measurement values of patterns at the peak of growth and development, which showed no significant difference in each section..2.The volume of PP,GP,Total volume, and MINCSA measurement values between Class ? to Class ? were smaller. The upper airway MINCSA in GP.Total volume, and MINCSA measurement values were statistically significant.Class ? compared with Class ? in Total volume, and MINCSA measurement values, the difference were statistically significant, but Class ? compared with Class ?,and Class ? compared with Class ?,there is no significant difference.3.The H-Me,C3-Me and H-S-N ofpatterns at the peak of growth and development were statistically significant. These three measurement values between Class ? to Class ? were smaller.Class ? compared with Class ? in the H-Me,C3-Me and H-S-N measurement values, the difference were statistically significant, but Class ? compared with Class ?,and Class ? compared with Class ?,there is no statistical difference.4.H-Me,C3-Me,H-S-N be positively correlated to the volume of PP?GP,Min CSA and Antero-posterior dimension of the cross sections(AP).Conclusion:1.The volume of PP,GP,Total volume, and MINCSA measurement values of patterns at the peak of growth and development between Class?to Class? were bigger.2.The upper airway MINCSA in GP.3.The position of hyoid bone be positively correlated to the upper airway.
