Objective:Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease that can be divided into different subtypes.Among them,triple-negative breast cancer receives more attention due to poor prognosis. We aimed to retrospectively review the epidemiological trends of clinic-pathological features of triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)and the impact of clinic-pathological features on prognosis to improve the recognition of TNBC.Methods:This is a retrospective study of confirmed 958 triple negative breast cancer females collected at Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital and The First Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from January 2005 to December 2015.The demographic characteristics, pathological diagnosis and survival status of TNBC patients were analyzed. The pathological features and survival status of patients with TNBC were analyzed. Results:From 2005 to 2015,the proportion of triple-negative breast cancer in Shanxi has been 10.41%,but the AJCC stage has gradually decreased. The proportion of cases in stage I have increased year by year, and the number of patients in stage II has decreased.Trends still dominate, and more early patients get timely treatment. The Cox proportional hazard regression model showed that the age of triple-negative breast cancer was 21-87 years old with a median age of 46 years. The age range of TNBC was from 21 to 87 years old, with median age of 46 years old.The proportion of rural population is higher,The main pathological type is invasive ductal carcinoma, modified radical mastectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy are the main treatment methods.Five-year overall survival(OS)rate in the patients with TNBC were 74.73%.Univariate analysis showed that patient residence, fertility status, breastfeeding history, tumor size, lymph node status and chemotherapy were important factors affecting the prognosis of TNBC(both P<0.05).BMI,menstrual status, and age at diagnosis,Pathological type, age at menarche are not associated with prognosis(both P>0.05).Further multivariate cox regression analysis showed that rural population(P=0.044,HR=1.463),positive lymph node(HR=2.509,P<0.001)and non-fertility(HR=1.08,P=0.009)were independent risk factors affecting TNBC overall survival;Breast-feeding history(HR=1.463,P = 0.044),chemotherapy(HR = 2.163;P = 0.006)were TNBC protective factors. Conclusion:The proportion of triple-negative breast cancer cases in all cases of breast cancer increased slowly from 2005 to 2015.The prognosis of TNBC is not associated to menstrual status, age at diagnosis,BMI,and surgical procedure.Rural population, lymph node positive and non-fertility are independent risk factors for the overall survival rate of TNBC.Breast-feeding history and chemotherapy were protective factor of TNBC.
