Objective:To investigate the prognosis of patients with osteosarcoma treated by single institute. Methods:A total of 44 patients with osteosareoma of the extremities, who had undergone surgical treatment in our institute from January 2013 to January 2018,were enrolled in this retrospective study. After patients were diagnosed with osteosarcoma, they were given neoadjuvant chemotherapy: cisplatin combined with doxorubicin.Kaplan-Meier survival curve and Cox regression model were used to analyze the correlation between survival rate and factors including patients' age, gender, complications, surgery, tumor metastasis and so on.Results:Among 44 patients, there were 23 males and 21 females, aged from 7 to 62years(average 27.2 years). All patients underwent extensive resection, including 35 cases of limb salvage surgery and 9 cases of amputation. The limb salvage rate was 79.5%.At the end of date, the 3-year survival rate was 65.5% in our research. The 3-year survival rate was 40.0% in patients with local recurrence,72.4% in patients with no local recurrence,32.0% in patients with lung metastasis,84.5% in patients with no lung metastasis,40.2% in patients with tumor's maximum diameter?10cm,78.1% in patients with tumor's maximum diameter<10cm,35.8% in patients with nonstandardchemotherapy,74.9% in patients with standard chemotherapy,38.1% in patients with high LDH at the time of diagnosis,72.3% in patients with normal LDH at the time of diagnosis. The Cox regression analysis showed that lung metastasis(p=0.005)and nonstandard chemotherapy(p=0.003)were associated with inferior outcomes. Conclusion:Neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with surgical methods can improve the survival rate of patients with osteosareoma of the extremities.Nonstandard chemotherapy and lung metastasis during or after treatment significantly affect the patients' survival rate.
