Objective: To study the effects ofkinesiophobiaon the clinical outcomesin patients treated surgically for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.Method : During the 2-year period from 2013 to 2014,a total of 54 patients treated surgically for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy were enrolled in this study. All patients were followed up for 6 months to 2years.TSK,VAS,SF-12 and NDI were recorded. Results:In the 54 eligible patients,40 finishedthe questionnaires.16 patients were diagnosed with kinesiophobia. There were no significant differences between the groups with and without kinesiophobia in terms of age, gender, the level of pain and duration of preoperativesymptoms. The NDI scores(P=0.003),SF-12 PCS scores(P=0.004)and SF-12 MCS scores(P=0.002)showed statistical significance between groups with and without kinesiophobia. The number of operation levels(P=0.011)has a significant influence on the TSK scores. The more levels treated, the higher the TSK scores. Conclusion:Patients with kinesiophobia would suffer more disability, more pain and lower physical life and mental life quality than those without kinesiophobia, and the more levels treated, the higher the TSK scores. So we suggested that special rehabilitation programfor kinesiophobia should be considered throughout the rehabilitation process.
