Objective: To compare the safety and short-term efficacy of intravenous Calcium gluconate and external Eloson compared to only Eloson in treatment of children with severe atopic dermatitis. Methods: A randomized,controlled,research-blind trail, conducted from January to December 2015 in our department.Forty-three children with severe AD(2-13 years old)were randomly allocated to the group A(Calcium gluconate and Eloson)and group B(Eloson),and then compared the safety and short-term efficacy during the therapy period. Results: Finally,45 patients were collected in this clinical trail, but two of them deny to have the examination, eventually 43 patients were enrolled.21 patients were allocated to group A,and the others were in group B.1.SCORAD and IGA score: At day 0,the SCORAD and IGA score showed no not significant statistically differences(p>0.05).The outcome of group A is obviously lower than group B at day 3 and day 7(p<0.05),but the SCORAD and IGA score were not significant statistically differences at day 14 and day 28(p>0.05).2.Objective signs: At day 0,the objective signs(erythema,edema/infiltration/papule)showed no not significant statistically differences(p>0.05).The outcome of group A is obviously lower than group B at day 3 and day 7(p<0.05),and exudation showed obviously decrease at day 3(p<0.05),but the SCORD scores was not significant statistically differences at day 14 and day 28(p>0.05).3.Subjective symptoms: The scores of pruritus and sleep disorder showed no not significant statistically differences during the therapy period(p>0.05).4.The amount of hormone and the score of guardian showed no significant differences during the therapy period(p>0.05).5.No adverse event occurred during the entire experiment. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that combined Calcium gluconate with Eloson are clinical effective, relatively safe, and well tolerated as a treatment for severe atopic dermatitis especially for the objective sign(erythema,edema/infiltration/papule)in 2-13 years old children.Further long-term studies will be necessary to clarify the therapeutic efficacy of Calcium gluconate and Eloson.
