| Posthepatectomy liver failure(PHLF)is a major complication that threatens the life of a patient after partial hepatectomy. The main influencing factors include hepatitis B virus infection, liver cirrhosis, hepatic steatosis,drug-induced liver injury, and liver ischemia-reperfusion injury. There are many preoperative evaluation factors, such as future liver residuals, indocyanine green clearance,Child-Pugh classification, jaundice, liver stiffness, platelets, and antithrombin III.The timely identification of preoperative predictors of PHLF in the form of biochemical parameters and imaging features is critical for surgeons. The improvement of postoperative patient survival rate is due to the individualized preoperative evaluation, the precise selection of the resected liver volume, and a comprehensive understanding of the pathological and physiological changes that can be expected after surgery. The purpose of this review is to summarize the predictors of PHLF and to discuss future research directions. |
