Objectives:To investigate the effect of low serum albumin on short-term prognosis of patients with heart failure. Methods:A total of 150 patients with heart failure admitted to the Department of Cardiology of The Affiliated Hospital of Chengde Medical College from July 2017 to August 2018 were selected as subjects. The subjects were divided into two groups according to the albumin concentration: low serum albumin group(61 cases)and control group(89 cases). The mortality and rehospitalization rate of the subjects within 30 days after discharge were followed up.Results:1 Comparison of general clinical characteristics: Compared with the control group, the biochemical indicators of low serum albumin group were higher in glutamic-pyruvic transaminase content[37.00(26.00,56.00)U/L vs32.00(22.00,45.50)U/L,P=0.042].2 Comparison of brain natriuretic peptide content in low serum albumin group and control group: The value of brain natriuretic peptide in low serum albumin group was higher than that in control group[1824.00(1450.00,2980.00)pg/ml vs 658.00(318.00,1120.00)pg/ml,P<0.001].3 The correlation between serum albumin concentration and brain natriuretic peptide value: There was a negative correlation between serum albumin concentration and logarithmic conversion value of brain natriuretic peptide(P <0.01).4 The 30-day mortality rate and readmission rate of heart failure in the two groups were compared: the 30-day mortality rate of heart failure in the low serum albumin group and the control group were 6.56% and 1.12%(P = 0.030),and the 30-day readmission rate of heart failure was 11.48% and 3.37% respectively(P = 0.025).5 The multi-factor unconditioned logistic regression analysis between serum albumin concentration and 30-day heart failure death and readmission: After correcting the confounding factors, serum albumin concentration was the protective factor for 30-day heart failure death(OR = 0.618,95%CI: 0.448-0.853,P=0.003);Serum albumin concentration was the protective factor for readmission of 30-day heart failure patients(OR=0.474,95%CI:0.300-0.750,P=0.001).Conclusions:Serum albumin concentration was negatively correlated with the logarithmic conversion of brain natriuretic peptide.Serum albumin concentration is a protective factor for 30-day mortality and readmission in patients with heart failure.Low serum albumin is an independent risk factor for poor prognosis in patients with heart failure.
