Effect Of Total Glucosides Of Paeony On Diabetic Nephropathy

Objective: To observe the effects of total glucosides of paeony on serum TNF-α,TGF-β1,CTGF,MCP-1,NF-κB,renal function and urinary protein excretion rate in patients with diabetic nephropathy,and to explore the efficacy of TGP in the treatment of DN.Methods: Sixty patients with Diabetic Nephropathy were randomly divided into control group and observation group with 30 cases each.The patients in the control group were given conventional comprehensive treatment.The patients in the observation group were given Total glucosides of paeony(0.6 g / times)three times a day on the basis of the conventional comprehensive treatment plan in the control group.The two groups were treated continuously for 3 months.Four cases were dropped out during the experiment,all of them were in the observation group,the remaining 26 cases were in the observation group.Compa-rison of serumTNF-α,TGF-β1,CTGF,MCP-1,NF-κB,fasting blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin,serum creatinine(Scr)and 24 hour urine protein(UAER),before and after treatment in the observation and control groups.Results:(1)Before treatment,there was no significant difference in serum TNF-α,TGF-β1,CTGF,MCP-1,NF-κB,fasting blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin,24 hour urine protein and serum creatinine levels between the control group and the observation group(P > 0.05).(2)After treatment,the levels in serumTNF-α,TGF-β1,CTGF,MCP-1,NF-κB,24 hour urine protein were decreased in the the control group and observation group,the observation group was superior to the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P< 0.05).There was no significant difference in fasting blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin andserum creatinine between the control group and the observation group before and after treatment(P > 0.05).Conclusion: Total glucosides of paeony can decrease the levels of serum TNF-α,TGF-β1,CTGF,MCP-1,NF-κB,24 hour urine protein in patients with DN.It can protect the kidney and delay the progress of DN.
