| OBJECTIVE:To detect the contamination status of laughing gas in the dental clinic during the period of sedation.METHODS:This study selected 15 patients who were diagnosed in the Peking Union Medical College Hospital Painless Dental Treatment Center from September 2018 to February 2019.During the nitrous oxide sedation, the collection device was used to collect air samples from the treatment environment. After that, all samples were sent to a professional testing institution to detect the concentration of laughing gas. This study uses air sampling method and gas chromatography technology, recommended by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in the United Stat,to collect and detect the concentration of nitrous oxide. This study investigated the air pollution in the dental clinic of Peking Union Medical College Hospital along with two other hospitals. With different method of removing exhaust gas,the laughing gas,all patients were divided into 6 groups, namely as window ventilation group, air purifier group A,air purifier group B,exhaust fan unit, exhaust fan+ blower group, and no clearing group.RESULTS:During the sedation period, the concentration of laughing gas was higher than 25ppm in 13 cases in the Peking Union Medical College. The other two cases, both were purifier A group, showed lower levels of concentration of laughing. The gas range was between 0-22ppm,which was less than 25ppm.Conclusion:Laughing gas pollution exists during the process of sedation in the Pediatrics Hospital of Peking Union Medical College Hospital.Effective protective and control measures are needed to reduce occupational exposure of dental staff and to lower the level of laughing gas concentration in dental clinic.Based on the results of this study,it is concluded that effective removal methods may solve the problem of laughing gas pollution. |
