BackgroundCongenital auricle deformity in children is a common facial deformity at present.lt mainly includes auricle structure malformation and auricle shape abnormality. The main cause of congenital auricle malformation is not clear at present, which may be related to genetic inheritance, abnormal development of embryo and internal and external pressure suffered by fetus in utero. The incidence rate of various types of auricle deformity is not yet determined.Surgical treatment for congenital auricle deformity in children at home and abroad has been mostly carried out in plastic surgery, and most of them began at the school age, with poor prognosis and more complications.Only about 30%of congenital auricle malformations are reported to return to normal 5-7 days after birth during the neonatal period, and most still require external intervention. However,in the preschool period, children may feel inferior because of the abnormal shape of the ears, causing various social psychological problems.Since the late 1980s,many authors have shown that permanent correction can be achieved by forcing the ear to be in place for several weeks. At present, many foreign literatures have reported that congenital auricle deformity can be corrected in the early stage by non-invasive means. However, even domestic otolaryngologists and plastic surgeons know little about this work. The ear correction model is a product with high safety and strong comprehensive orthopedic properties among the currently reported orthodontic devices. There are foreign EarWell correction models,as well as domestic similar ones such as "yier" and "liang er".There is a lack of domestic experience in the clinical application of ear correction model in the treatment of auricle deformity.Based on the above situation,we carried out the following research.PurposeAll types of auricle deformity were counted,to study the clinical application effect of ear correction model in children with congenital auricle deformity, and its related epidemiological characteristics, indications, contraindications, treatment timing, treatment duration and complications. To further analyze the special types of deformity.Provide more accurate data for non-surgical correction of auricle deformity.MethodsAnalysis of children with auricular malformations from August 2016 to January 2018 in our outpatient clinic.Epidemiological questionnaire survey on related factors was conducted under the informed consent of parents. All the children with congenital abnormal auricle morphology and some mild abnormal auricle structure were corrected by using the ear correction model.Photos were taken before and after treatment, and results were recorded during regular follow-up.Grouped according to age,and statistics on the gender of the child, the number of morphological malformations, the treatment effect, treatment duration and complications.Result1.38 children(42 ears)with auricular deformity were treated with ear correction model in the early stage(August 2016-December 2016).The treatment results were grouped according to age.The treatment results showed:evaluation The best were:100%(neonatal group),89.47%(28-90 day group)and 72.73%(more than 90 days).2.For the 108 children(135 ears)(October 2016-January 2018),the ear-corrected model was also used for treatment. All the shapes of the auricle shape were similar to those of normal ears.ConclusionThe ear correction model has a significant effect on the correction of congenital auricle deformity in children. In the neonatal period, the treatment is effective, the correction time required is short, and the proportion of complications is low.The corrective effect on the cryptotia of infants and young children is obvious, and it is still effective for the correction of children with cryptotia more than 6 months old.
