ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to explore the clinical status and efficacy of apatinib in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer, and to find potential efficacy predictors for screening superior populations.MethodsRetrospectively analyzed the clinical data of all patients with advanced gastric cancer who received at least one course of treatment(28 days)during October 2014 to October 2017 in the third affiliated hospital of Soochow University,to evaluated the clinical efficacy and the occurrence of adverse events after treatment. The endpoints of the study were the overall survival time(OS)and the disease control rate(DCR).All data were analyzed statistically by SPSS 20.0 statistical software.Kaplan-method,log-rank test, and^test were used to compare the overall survival time and disease control rate between groups.Cox multiple regression model and binary logistic regression model were used to screen independent predictors of the overall survival time and the disease control rate. Results 1.Follow up to December 31,2017,the median overall survival time of all patients was 5.00 months(95%C71.00-18.70 months).DCR was 37.9%.2.The most common adverse events after treatment were hand-foot syndrome, inappetence and fatigue, hypertension and proteinuria, most of which can be tolerated or controlled by symptomatic treatment.3.Statistieal analysis results showed that hypertension(P=0.001),hand-foot syndrome(P=0.027),diarrhea(P=0.005)and proteinuria(P=0.005)were independent prognostic factors for OS,predicting longer survival benefits.Hand-foot syndrome(P=0.006)and proteinuria(P?0.037)were independent prognostic factors for DCR,predicting better disease control rates.ConclusionsThe adverse events occurred after treatment may be the predictors for the efficacy of apatinib in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer, predicting a better clinical efficacy.Patients with advanced gastric cancer who developed side effects after treatment may be the preponderant population of apatinib.
