Object To explore the expression of adenylate-related protein 2(CAP2)in gastric cancer tissues and to determine its relationship with histopathology and long-term prognosis. Methods 105 patients who underwent radical gastrectomy in our hospital from January 2010 to October 2013 were included.Immunohistochemistry was used to assess the difference in the expression of CAP2 in gastric cancer tissues and adjacent tissues. The immunohistochemistry results were quantified by the target protein integrated optical density(IDO),and the relationship between CAP2 and histopathological parameters and the predictive value of long-term survival of gastric cancer were evaluated. Results Immunohistochemical analysis showed that the expression levels of CAP2(3.55±0.62 vs 1.00±0.22;t=39.730,P<0.01)and Ki67(4.55±0.89 vs 1.00±0.20;t=39.450,P<0.01)were significantly higher than those of adjacent cancer.Correlation analysis showed that the expression of CAP2 in gastric cancer showed significantly positive relationship with Ki67(r=0.528,P<0.01),peripheral blood CEA(r=0.244,P<0.01)and CA19-9(r=0.399,P<0.01).Patients were divided into CAP2 low expression group(Group A,n=52)and high expression group(Group B,n=53)based on the median relative expression of CAP2(3.5).The rate of patients with CEA?5?g/L,CA19-9>37 kU/L,pathological grade of G3-G4,T stage of 3-4,and N stage of 2-3 were significantly higher in Group B than these of Group A(P<0.05).K-M survival analysis showed that the 5-year survival rate was significantly lower in the Group B than in the Group A(18.9%,10/53 vs 53.8%,28/52;Log-rank X2=29.687,P<0.01).Cox multiple regression analysis showed high expression of CAP2(HR=3.377,95%CI:1.995-5.835),CEA?5?g/L(HR=1.884,95%CI:1.082-3.279),CA19-9?37 kU/L(HR=3.405,95%CI:1.904-6.089)and pathological grade G3-G4(HR=2.042,95%CI:1.166-3.575)were independent risk factors for 5-year survival after radical gastrectomy. In addition, with the relative expression of CAP2 of 3.5 as the cut-off value, the sensitivity of predicting death after 5 years of surgery was 71.64%,the specificity was 73.68%,and the area under the curve was 0.760,P<0.01.Conclusion CAP2 is highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues and is closely related to tumor progression. It is an independent risk factor for 5-year survival rate after radical gastrectomy, and has certain clinical value for prognosis evaluation.
