Objective : To define the specific requirements of nursing risk management in the nursing of elderly patients;to analyze the causes of adverse events, the intervention effect of nursing risk management on reducing the incidence of adverse events of elderly inpatients in internal medicine department;and to evaluate and think about the practical application of nursing risk management. Methods : 1906 elderly patients were selected as control group(using routine nursing management method)and 2238 elderly patients as observation group(using risk management method). The occurrence of adverse events, patient satisfaction and quality of nursing staff were compared between the two groups, and the reported adverse nursing events were analyzed, discussed and summarized.Results:(1)The number of adverse events in the observation group and the control group were 12(0.54%)and 29(1.52%)respectively,and the number of no adverse events were 2226(99.46%)and 1877(98.48%)respectively,P < 0.05.(2)The incidence of adverse events was 1.52% and 0.54%,respectively,before and after risk management.(3)In medical inpatients, elderly patients over 60 years of age, patients with cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction or cerebral embolism, cardiopulmonary insufficiency and other diseases are more likely to suffer from pressure ulcers, falls, falling out of bed and other accidents.Nurses, patients and their families, patient safety education and management are the common causes of adverse events.(4)The satisfaction rates of patients in the observation group and the control group were 91.20% and 77.75%,respectively,P < 0.05.(5)Before and after the implementation of nursing risk management, nurses' sense of responsibility was(7.06±1.01)and(7.88±0.75),communication ability was(6.79±1.17)and(8.15±0.90),nursing quality was(8.05±0.83)and(8.20±0.80),risk awareness was(6.94±0.59)and(8.19±0.55)respectively,P<0.05.Conclusion: Through establishing risk management team, improving risk prevention and control mechanism, analyzing the causes of reported adverse events, finding the weak links in nursing work, formulating corrective measures and intervening in key links in time to continuously improve the quality of nursing. At the same time, strengthen the training and assessment of nurses, strengthen routine nursing work, effectively reduce the incidence of adverse nursing events, improve the awareness of risk prevention and control of nurses, help to reduce nursing risks, improve patient satisfaction.
