Objective: To compare the effect of only one thoracic drainage tube with multiple lateral foramens and two common thoracic drainage tubes after VATS upper lobectomy,so as to select a better drainage scheme. Methods: A retrospective analysis was made of the clinical data of 239 patients who underwent VATS upper lobectomy in the same treatment group of thoracic surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from January 1,2016 to December 31,2018.According to the number of thoracic drainage tubes placed after operation, the patients were divided into one group with multiple side holes(single tube group)and two groups with traditional upper and lower drainage tubes(double tube group).Compared with the two groups, the time of thoracic drainage tube indwelling, total drainage volume, hospital stay, pain NRS score on the first day after operation, pain NRS score on the second day after operation, pain NRS score on the third day after operation, atelectasis after operation, limited or encapsulated hydropneumothorax after operation, subcutaneous emphysema after operation, and thoracic cavity again after operation.Differences in the incidence of closed drainage. Results: The retention time of drainage tube, total drainage volume, hospitalization time, pain NRS score on the second day after operation and pain NRS score on the third day after operation in the single tube group were less than or lower than those in the double tube group, and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of subcutaneous emphysema, closed thoracic drainage, limited or encapsulated hydropneumothorax and NRS score on the first day of operation between the two groups(P > 0.05).Conclusion: For patients undergoing VATS upper lobectomy, only one drainage tube with multiple lateral orifices is as safe and effective as two drainage tubes. It will not increase the complications related to the operation, reduce the degree of pain after operation, shorten the hospital stay after operation, and is consistent with the concept of accelerated rehabilitation.
