Investigation On The Correlation Between Infection Of Blastocystis Hominis And TCM Constitution

Objectives:To understand the infection of Blastocystis hominis and explore the relationship between the infection of Blastocystis hominis and the constitution of traditional Chinese medicine.To reveal the pathogenesis of Blastocystis hominis infection from the perspective of TCM constitution,and to provide a new way of individual prevention and treatment for different constitutional groups.Methods:1.From July 2017 to March 2018,among the patients and health check-ups who came to Laibin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guangxi,the people with gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea or those who required stool examination were screened for Blastocystis hominis infection by modified culture method,and the positive subjects for Blastocystis hominis screening were studied as cases.2.A 1:2 matched case-control study was conducted to investigate 121 positive cases of Blastocystis hominis infection and 242 negative cases ofcontrol group by means of questionnaires.The main contents of the survey include:(1)basic information of individuals: name,sex,age,occupation,cultural level,nationality and origin,et al.(2)Relevant influencing factors:household drinking water,pet raising,cleaning before eating melons and fruits,et al.(3)Chinese Medicine Constitution Questionnaire.All relevant data in the questionnaire were collected,Excel database was established,and SPSS17.0software was used to analyze the data.Chi-square test was used for single factor analysis to compare the differences of exposure factors between case group and control group.The statistical significance was p<0.05.Multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis was used for single factor analysis p< 0.1.Results:A total of 121 positive cases of Blastocystis hominis infection were collected in this study.Among them,42 cases were male,accounting for 34.71%(42/121)and 79 cases were female,accounting for 65.29%(79/121).The results of questionnaire survey and TCM constitution judgment showed that the constitution of 121 infected patients was 26.4% of Yin deficiency,20.7% of Damp-heat,12.4% of Qi deficiency,12.4% of Yang deficiency,8.3% of Phlegm-dampness,6.6% of Qi depression,5.8% of Peace,4.1% of Blood stasis and 3.3% of Special constitution.Single factor analysis was made on the exposure factors and constitution of TCM in case group and control group..The results showed that the disinfection of drinking water,the cleaning of melons and fruits before eating,and the pet raising in the past year were closely related to the infection of Blastocystis hominis(p<0.01).The constitution of Yin deficiency,Damp-heat,Qi deficiency and Yang deficiency were significantlycorrelated with Blastocystis hominis infection(p<0.05),and Damp-heat and Phlegm-dampness were closely related to male infection(p<0.01),Yin deficiency was closely related to female infection(p<0.01),Yin deficiency was closely related to the infection group of young adults aged 16-40(p<0.05),and Qi deficiency was closely related to the infection group of middle-aged and old people aged 41-65(p<0.05).Further,the factors of p<0.1 in the single factor analysis mentioned above were included in the multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis.The results showed that disinfected drinking water and washed melons and fruits were negatively correlated with Blastocystis hominis infection,with OR values of 0.355 and 0.479 respectively,and pet raising in the past year was positively correlated with Blastocystis hominis infection,with OR value of 1.938.Yin deficiency constitution,Damp-heat constitution,Yang deficiency constitution and Qi deficiency constitution were positively correlated with Blastocystis hominis infection,with OR values of 4.222,2.809,4.004 and2.590,respectively,while Peace constitution was negatively correlated with Blastocystis hominis infection,with OR value of 0.307.Conclusions:1.The household drinking water is not sterilized,the melons and fruits are not cleaned before consumption,and the pets kept for nearly 1 year are closely related to the infection of Blastocystis hominis.Strengthening health education,cultivating good hygiene habits,strengthening disinfection management of drinking water and sanitation management of pets can prevent the infection of Blastocystis hominis to a certain extent.2.Blastocystis hominis infection is significantly correlated with Yin deficiency,damp-heat,Qi deficiency and Yang deficiency,among which male infection is closely related to damp-heat and phlegm-dampness,while femaleinfection is closely related to Yin deficiency.There are certain differences in the constitution of infected people of different ages.
