Objective To study the correlation between Leukoaraiosis(LA)and Neutrophil to Lymphocyte ratio(NLR).Methods A total of 140 patients who were admitted to the first affiliated hospital of Guangxi medical university from January 2015 to January 2019 and improved head MRI examination were collected. The Leukoaraiosis group included 72 patients with head MRI showing only Leukoaraiosis. The nonLeukoaraiosis group included 68 patients who had no abnormality in head MRI during the same period.Information collected includes:(1)Previous history: Hypertension,DM,CVA,CHD and Alcohol/Smoking;(2)Laboratory indicators: WBC,Hb,TC,TG,HDL,LDL,HCY.The severity of Leukoaraiosis was graded according to the Fazekas score, and the patients were divided into three grades: no-LA group,mild-LA group, and moderate to severe LA group.SPSS 20.0 statistical software package was used for statistical analysis of the data. Results 1.Compared with the non-LA group, the levels of Male,Age,Hypertension,HDL,HCY and NLR in the LA group increased, while the Hb in the LA group decreased, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.Further binary Logistic regression analysis suggested that Gender and Age may be related risk factors for Leukoaraiosis;3.The ROC curve was used to describe and analyze the sensitivity and specificity of NLR as a serological marker of Leukoaraiosis. The results showed that the area under the curve was 0.664,while the sensitivity was 59.7%,the specificity was 72.1%,and the optimal cut-of value of NLR was 2.10.4.The Hypertension,Age,NLR and HDL of the non-LA group, the mild LA group and the moderate to severe LA group showed an increasing trend, while the Hb showed a decreasing trend.5.The results showed that Age and Hypertension were independent risk factors for the severity of Leukoaraiosis.6.Spearman correlation test showed that the severity of LA was positively correlated with NLR(r=0.335,P=0.00<0.01).7.Correlation analysis of NLR with other factors showed that NLR was positively correlated with Gender Male(%),Hypertension,Age,WBC and negatively correlated with Hb.Conclusion NLR is increased in patients with Leukoaraiosis, and is positively correlated with the severity of Leukoaraiosis.NLR can be used as a serum marker to predict the occurrence and severity of LA,thus playing a guiding role in clinical diagnosis and treatment.
