Objective:To evaluate the clinical effects of locking-taper implants in the posterior region with low occlusal-gingival distance. Methods:A total of 23 patients were implanted from the Department of Stomatology, vthe Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University between November 2016 and April 2017,and 40 were implanted with Locking-taper implants in the the posterior region with low occlusal-gingival distance, which the occlusal-gingival distance is less 5mm.With 2 years follow-up,observing the following indicators.Firstly, implants survival rate.Secondly,a radiographic evaluation of the degree of subcrestal positioning of mesial and distal was conducted to identify two implant groups on the day of the operation:Group A was composed of implants placed less than 2 mm under the crestal bone;Group B was composed of implants placed 2 mm or more under the crest. The bone height was measured at the day of repair?T1?,one year after repair?T2?and two years after repair?T3?.At the same time,a evaluation of the crown to implant ratio was conducted to identify two groups on the day of repair:Group 1:C/I<1.5;Group 2:C/I>1.5.Thirdly,measuring modified plaque index?mPLI?,probing depth?PD?,gingival index?GI?to assess soft tissue around the implant.Forth, statistical analysis of post-repair complications;Fifth, patients satisfaction evaluation.Statistical analysis was performed on the data using the SPSS24.0 software package.Results:1.During 2 years follow-up,1 implants failed, the implant survival rate was 98%.2.Implant placement depths of group A and group B did influence the mesial and distal crestal bone height at T1?T2?T3,which helped maintain the bone height. However, implant placement depths did not influence the crestal bone changes between T1-T2,T1-T3,and T2-T3,which had no significant influence on crestal bone changes. The average C/I of the implant after repair was 1.37±0.42.Statistical analysis showed no difference on crestal bone changes between the crown to implant ratio group 1?C/I<1.5?and group 2?C/I>1.5?.3.One patien suffered from gingival swelling and bleeding, the rest of the patients performed well around the soft tissue of the implant.4.One patient had ceramic fracture and one patient had discomfort occlusion, the rest of the patients performed well.5.Except for two patients complaining of food impaction, the overall satisfaction of the patients was high.Conclusion:Locking-taper implants can be used to repair missing teeth in the posterior region with low occlusal-gingival distance because of high survival rate, good soft and hard tissue around the implant, low complications and excellent satisfaction.
