ObjectiveThis objective of this study is to inspect the serum sex hormones?testosterone;estradiol?,parathyroid hormone, ions levels?calcium;phosphorus;magnesium;iron?and biochemical indicators?alanine aminotransferase;total bilirubin;creatinine;uric acid;blood glucose;triglyceride;total cholesterol?in Tibetans with sarcopenia and examines their correlation with the occurrence of sarcopenia in Tibetans.MethodsAfter informed consent, the Tibetans with sarcopenia from 20 to 70 years old were screened according to the European Working Group on Sarcopenia. In total,164 patients with sarcopenia?male 70,female 94?and 564 healthy samples were collected. The screened patients with sarcopenia were referred as the sarcopenia group.A random sampling method was used to randomly select age and gender matched controls from the healthy samples as the control group?male 70,female 94?.After the fasting venous blood?4ml?was collected, the non-anticoagulant blood?3000 r/min?was centrifuged for 15 min,and the serum was collected. The sex hormones, parathyroid hormone, liver function?alanine aminotransferase;total bilirubin?,renal function?creatinine;uric acid?,blood glucose, blood lipids?triglycerides;total cholesterol?,ions?iron;magnesium;calcium;phosphorus?levels were tested by employing Chemiluminescence method, chemical colorimetry, phosphomolybdate method, arsenazo III method and other test methods.SPSS 21 software was used for statistical analysis.Results1.The average testosterone?T?level in the male sarcopenia group was significantly higher than that in the healthy control group?P<0.01?.Logistic regression analysis of risk factors for sarcopenia showed that T was a risk factor for males with sarcopenia?OR=1.773,P=0.014?.As serum testosterone levels increased, the incidence of sarcopenia increased. The level of estradiol?E2?in the female sarcopenia group was significantly lower than that in the healthy control group?P<0.01?.Logistic regression analysis of risk factors for sarcopenia showed that E2 was a protective factor against sarcopenia in females?OR=0.987,P=0.017?.2.The average magnesium ion level in the male and female sarcopenia group was significantly higher than that in the healthy control group?p<0.01?.Logistic regression analysis showed that serum magnesium was a risk factor for sarcopenia in both male and female?male OR=1.677,P=0.001;female OR=2.15,P=0.027?.With the increase of serum magnesium level, the incidence of sarcopenia increased. In males, calcium and phosphorus levels in the sarcopenia group were significantly lower than those in the healthy control group?P<0.01?,and the iron level in the sarcopenia group was lower than those in the healthy control group?P<0.05?.In females, the phosphorus level in the sarcopenia group was lower than that in the healthy control group?P<0.05?.3.In females, the level of alanine aminotransferase and uric acid in the sarcopenia group were significantly lower than those in the healthy control group?P<0.01?,the creatinine level in the sarcopenia group was lower than that in the healthy control group?P<0.05?,Logistic regression analysis showed that uric acid was a protective factor against sarcopenia in females?OR=0.984,P=0.004?.In males, the blood glucose level of the sarcopenia group was lower than that of the healthy control group?P<0.05?,Logistic regression analysis showed that blood glucose was a protective factor against sarcopenia in males?OR=0.185,P=0.005?.Conclusions1.In Tibetan men, high serum magnesium and testosterone levels are risk factors for sarcopenia under the interaction of hormones and ions.while blood glucose level within the normal range is a protective factor.2.In Tibetan women, high serum magnesium level is a risk factor for sarcopenia under the interaction of hormones and ions.while uric acid and estrogen levels within the normal range are protective factors.
