Background Schizophrenia is a severe psychiatric disease whose cause is unclear and its symptoms are complex and difficult to cure.It imposes a heavy burden on the patient, the family and the society. In the study of the etiology and pathogenesis of schizophrenia, the influence of environmental factors cannot be ignored.Diurnal temperature range as an important index of climate change, has been increasingly used to evaluate the impacts of temperature variability on human health. However, little is known about the effects of diurnal temperature range on schizophrenia. Objective 1.To clarify the distribution of schizophrenic patients in Tongling city in 2014-2016;2.According to thetime-series study, use the method of the poisson generalized linear regression and the distributed lag nonlinear model,to analyze the effect of diurnal temperature range on the admission of schizophrenia;3.Analysis and comparison of different characteristics of the population, the difference diurnal temperature range on the admission of schizophrenia,to find vulnerable groups,to provide a scientific basis for effective prevention of schizophrenia.Method The daily admission data for schizophrenia in the third People's Hospital of Tongling City?Tongling City Psychological Hospital?for the period 2014-2016were collected, including the age, sex, occupation, admission date and admission diagnosis of the patient. At the same time, the daily meteorological data of the same period is obtained from the Tongling Meteorological Bureau, including the highest temperature, the minimum temperature, the relative humidity, etc.According to the relevant data of the area, the environmental conditions of Tongling city are analyzed, and the research indexes include sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide,PM 2.5 and so on.Control of pollutants, relative humidity,seasonal,day-of-week effects and long-term effects by means of a distributed lag nonlinear model and a Poisson's generalized linear regression analysis method Phase trend and other confounding factors were used to analyze the effect of diurnal temperature range on daily admission of schizophrenia. In the analysis, patients were grouped according to age,sex and occupation, and subgroup analysis was carried out. Results 3,470 hospitalized patients with schizophrenia were collected from Tongling City from 2014 to 2016.There were 2,218 males?63.9%?and 1,250?36.0%?of20-39-year-old patients. The average values of relative humidity and day and night temperature differences were 77.7%and 7.8°C.The average concentrations of PM2.5,SO2,and NO2 were 53.1 ug/m3,48.2 ug/m3,and 37.6 ug/m3,respectively.The study found that the effect of diurnal temperature range on the admission of schizophrenia is an acute effect and there is a certain lag. From the overall effect of the diurnal temperature range on the admission of schizophrenia,it can be seen that the risk of schizophrenia admission increases with the increase of the diurnal temperature range. After grouping by age, gender, and occupation, the lagging response of the subgroup in the high temperature difference was observed. The study found that men are more susceptible to l diurnal temperature range than women. In terms of age, people aged20-39 are more sensitive to the effects of diurnal temperature range than other age groups, while farmers have higher risks when exposed to high diurnal temperature range. Conclusion Studies have confirmed that there is a significant correlation between the higher diurnal temperature range and the onset of schizophrenia. The Tongling night temperature difference of 10.2°C?P75?increases the number of hospital admissions for schizophrenia?RR=1.058,95%CI:1.0301.088,P=0.026??The risk of schizophrenia is increasing as diurnal temperature range continues to increase. This effect occurs on the day of exposure and the risk effect continues until day 16.The results of gender, age, and occupational stratification showed that men and people aged 20 to older were more susceptible to day and night temperature differences. In the case of large diurnal temperature range the risk of farmers entering the hospital is higher than other occupational groups. Therefore, the vulnerable population is characterized by male farmers who are between 20 and 39 years old.
