Objective: To investigate the correlation between TCM syndromes and personality traits in patients with retinitis pigmentosa, and the probability of anxiety and depression in patients, providing new ideas for clinical intervention. Methods: The Essenck(Adult)Personality Questionnaire(Eysenck,Personality,Questionaire,EPQ),Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)were used to compare 144 cases(114 patients with RP,normal). In 30 patients, the patients were scored and the patient’s cases were sorted using the fundus degeneration pathology table. The TCM syndromes of the patients were compared with the EPQ values and gender, age, and course of treatment, and statistical analysis was used. Results: TCM syndrome classification results showed that in 114 cases of effective case data,35 cases of spleen and kidney yang deficiency(accounting for30.70%),45 cases of liver and kidney yin deficiency(accounting for 39.47%),34 cases of spleen deficiency and weak syndrome(accounting for 29.83%).According to the gender, age, and duration of disease, the syndrome classification of RP patients was analyzed. There was a correlation between gender, age group and syndrome type, and it was statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of EPQ showed that 144 patients(114 patients with RP and 30 patients with normal subjects)had valid data in the internal and external(E)23 cases(15.97%),neurotic(N)50 cases(34.72%),and psychoticism(P)19 cases(13.19%)and masking(L)52 cases(36.11%).From the aspects of gender, age, and duration of disease, the EPQ of RP patients were analyzed. There was a correlation between gender, age group and EPQ component N and L,and it was statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of the Self-rating Anxiety Scale showed that among 144 patients(114patients with RP and 30 patients with normal subjects),124 patients(86.11%)had anxiety and 20 patients(13.88%)had no anxiety. The anger of RP patients was analyzed from the aspects of gender, age and disease duration. The male incidence rate was higher than that of females. There was a correlation between gender, age group and anxiety degree, and it was statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of the self-rating depression scale showed that in 144 patients(114patients with RP and 30 patients with normal subjects),95 patients(65.97%)had depression, and 49 patients(34.02%)had no depression. The relationship between gender, age, and depression was analyzed by gender, age, and duration of disease, and it was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions: Studies have shown that RP patients with more men than women, more with anxiety, and syndrome differentiation for liver and kidney yin deficiency syndrome, mostly expressed as N,L personality. It is prone to emotional instability, such as irritability and irritation, and the psychological burden is heavier.Intervention and treatment in clinical practice can follow the theory of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment, and it can achieve better curative effect by supplementing the traditional Chinese medicine with tonic, blood and eyesight.
