Objective:To investigate the expression of β2-adrenoceptor(β2-AR)and E-cadherin in epithelial ovarian cancer(EOC)tissue and its clinical significance. Methods:Immunohistochemistry and qRT-PCR were used to detect the expression ofβ2-adrenoceptor and E-cadherin in EOC and benign ovarian tumor tissues. Results:The positive expression rate of β2-AR in EOC was significantly higher;while E-cadherin was the opposite, and both differences were remarkably significant(P<0.05).The expressions of both β2-AR and E-cadherin in the EOC have relationship with the clinical stage, histological grade and lymphatic metastasis(P<0.05);and were not assosicated with age and pathological types(P>0.05).The expression of E-cadherin was negatively co-related to that of β2-AR.The relative mRNA of β2-AR in EOC was statistically higher(P<0.05),while the mRNA expression of E-cadherin in the EOC was remarkably lower(P<0.05).Conclusions:β2-AR plays an important role in the onset and development of epithelial ovarian cancer.β2-AR may take part in the regulation of EOC progression via EMT.Theβ-adrenoceptor blocker might be a promising method to prevent and treat ovarian cancer in clinical practice.
