Objective: To evaluate the efficacy, safety and influence factor about recurrence of cryoballoon ablation therapy in persistent atrial fibrillation(Per AF).Methods: Patients were enrolled in succession received CBCA or RFCA therapy due to Per AF from January 2016 to November 2017.Patients were assessed for atrial arrhythmia recurrence after a 3-month blanking period at 6 months,9months,12 months and analyzed during follow ups. Results: During 12 months follow up,after a 3 months blanking period, freedom from atrial tachyarrhythmias recurrence after a single procedure in CBCA and RFCA were similar(66.7% vs.62.2%,P = 0.39).In CBCA,mean procedure times(113.5±40.4min vs 156.2±46.9min,P = 0.01)and fluoroscopy times(15.8±5.6min vs 18.2±4.0min,P = 0.006)were shorter than RFCA.No perioperative death occurred.Multivariate analysis showed that blanking period recurrence(HR 6.46,95%CI:1.48-28.05,P=0.01)was a risk factor for late recurrence. Conclusion: In patients with Per AF,Cryoballoon catheter ablation use is associated with an excellent safety profile and favorable outcomes.Arrhythmia recurrence during the blanking period were independent predictors of AF recurrence.
