Objective:To explore the difference of Thrombin Activatable Fibrinolysis Inhibitor(TAFI)levels in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS)and healthy people and its different level within the types of acute ischemic stroke TOAST(Trial of Org10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment).Methods:1.A total of 253 AIS patients(182 males and 71 females)were enrolled in the neurology department of our hospital as the case group for this study.A total of 243 healthy individuals(172 males and 71 females)who were examined in the physical examination department of our hospital during the same period were selected as the normal control group.Individuals in the above two groups were randomly selected.2.Plasma TAFI levels were measured within 72 hours of individual disease in the case group and in the control group.3 ml of median venous blood was taken and the plasma TAFI level was measured by immunoturbidimetry.3.According to the TOAST classification, the patients in the case group were divided into 4 groups:128 in the large atherosclerotic group,30 in the cardioembolic group,55 in the lacunar group, and 39 in the undetermined group.4.Individuals in the case group were divided into two groups according to gender:182 males and 71 females. The control group were divided into two groups according to gender:172 males and 71 females.5.According to the age,the males in the case group were divided into 3 groups,93 in the under 65years old group,42 in the 65-75 years old group, and 47 in the over 75years old group. The female patients in the case group were divided into 3 groups,22 in the under 65years old group,12 in the 65-75 years old group, and 37 in the over 75years old group. In the same way,the males in the control group were divided into 3 groups:108 in the under 65years old group,29 in the 65-75 years old group, and 35 in the over 75years old group. The females in the control group were also divided into 3 groups:19 in the under 65years old group,17 in the 65-75 years old group, and 35 in the over 75years old group.6.The patients were divided into two groups according to the NIHSS scores in the case group.Among them,NIHSS<5 points were divided into the mild stroke group,a total of 164 patients, and NIHSS?5points were divided into the moderate to severe stroke group,a total of 89 patients.7.According to the change of the condition within 7 days of the case group,223 patients were divided into the stable or remission group and 30 patients were divided into progression group.8.Patients in the case group were followed up for 3 months,6 months,9 months and 1 year.According to the prognosis of the patients, the patients were divided into 16 cases of relapse group and 140 cases of no relapse group.9 This study uses SPSS 20.0 to deal with the data collectedResults:1.Comparison of general clinical data:The gender, age, the number of patients with hypertension and diabetes, smoking and drinking in the case group were not significantly different from those in the control group(P>0.05).2.The difference of plasma TAFI levels between the case group and the control group was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.The plasma TAFI levels of each group was compared with the control group:the plasma TAFI levels in the large atherosclerotic group, the cardioembolic group, the lacunar group and the undetermined group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05)However,there was no significant difference in plasma TAFI levels between the four groups(P>0.05).4.For the study of different gender individuals in the control group:the difference of plasma TAFI levels between males and females in the control group was statistically significant(JP<0.05);the difference in the case group was not statistically significant(JP>0.05)5.There was a negative correlation between plasma TAFI levels and ages in male and female of the control group and the case group(P<0.05).6.Within 72 hours after the onset of AIS,plasma TAFI levels were positively correlated with low density lipoprotein levels and leucocyte count(P<0.05).7.There were no significant differences in plasma TAFI levels between patients with mild stroke and those with moderate to severe stroke(P>0.05).8.The plasma TAFI levels of AIS patients with stable or remission within 7 days of onset and AIS patients with progression disease have no significant difference(P>0.05).9.There was no significant difference in plasma TAFI levels between patients with AIS who had relapse and no relapse within 3 months,6months,9months and 1 year after onset(P>0.05)Conclusions:1.The AIS patients' plasma TAFI levels are decreased within 72 hours of onset.2.Plasma TAFI levels may be gender-related in healthy individuals.3.Plasma TAFI levels are inversely related to the age.4.Plasma TAFI levels within 72 hours after the onset of AIS are associated with inflammatory indexs such as leucocyte count and low density lipoprotein levels.5.There is no significant correlation between plasma TAFI levels in patients with the different TOAST classification of AIS.
