| Objective:To investigate the characteristics of upper airway structure and hyoid position in patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate(UCLP)during mixed dentition in Urumqi, and to understand the degree of deformity of upper airway and hyoid position in children after UCLP during mixed dentition. To help formulate treatment plan and prevent the occurrence of upper airway problems in the course of treatment to provide certain anatomical reference. Methods:Thirty children with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate after mixed dentition in Urumqi before the peak of growth and development were selected as the study subjects:UCLP group.Thirty children of skeletal Class Ⅰ and skeletal Class Ⅲmatched by sex,age and bone age were selected as control group:skeletal Class Ⅰgroup and skeletal Class Ⅲ group.Cephalometric analysis was performed on these children. Results:Compared with the skeletal Class I,the PNS-S were decreased, the PNS-Aa value were increased, the PNS-p1 value were decreased, the ve1-ve2 value were increased, the pl-p2 value were increased, the phl-ph2 value were decreased, and the horizontal and vertical measurement indexes of hyoid bone were increased in UCLP group. The above results have statistical significance(P<0.05).Compared with skeletal type Ⅲ patients, the PNS-S value were decreased, the PNS-Aa value were increased, the PNS-pl value were decreased, the Sp1-Sp2value were decreased, the ve1-ve2 value were increased, the p1-p2 value were increased, and the H-FH value were decreased in the experimental group. The above results have statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with non-cleft lip and palate mixed dentition children in Urumqi area, the height of nasopharyngeal bone and the shortest distance of glossopharyngeal airway in children after UCLP repair in mixed dentition period in Urumqi area decreased, but the upper airway of palatopharynx increased in varying degrees. The hyoid bone position of children after UCLP in mixed dentition period in Urumqi area was more backward and lower. |
