ObjectiveIn recent years, research show that there may be some relationship between coronary slow flow phenomenon(CSFP)and metabolic syndrome(MS)and its components. However, the specific mechanism has not been clarified and the research on it is less at home and abroad. The study aimed to describe the prevalence of CSFP of Chinese population, and to investigate the relationship between CSFP and MS and its components to further explore the convinced cause of CSFP and the physio-pathologic mechanism,to provide new ideas for clinical diagnosis and treatment.MethodsWe enrolled 42 patients with metabolic syndrome and 58 control subjects in the study. All subjects had angiographically proven normal coronary arteries or near normal arteries(the degree of stenosis of less than 40%).Thrombolysis in myocardial infarction(TIMI)frame counts of left anterior descending artery, left circumflex artery and right coronary artery and average TIMI frame counts of overall major coronary arteries were calculated. The slowing of coronary blood flow and their related risk factors were analyzed.SPSS 13.0 statistical software was used for all statistical calculations.A p value of<0.05 was considered as statistically significant.Results1.TIMI frame counts of left anterior descending artery(37.95±12.84 vs 25.55± 10.15,P<0.001),left circumflex artery(21.4317.95 vs 15.2414.76,P?0.001),right coronary artery(24.67±8.82 vs 17.0314.89,P<0.001)and average TIMI frame counts of overall major coronary arteries(28.02±8.29 vs 19.39±4.52,P<0.001)in patients with metabolic syndrome were significantly higher than those in control subjects.2.Body mass index(BMI),triglyceride(TG)level and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)were the independent risk factors of slowing of coronary blood flow.3.To compare and analyse MS and CSFP by Chi-square testchi square test, the ?2 value is 8.118,P is 0.004,OR=3.485,95%CI(1.449,8.832),the results show that they are positively related, the difference between both groups was statistically significant.Conclusion1.The coronary blood flow slow down in patients with metabolic syndrome.BMI,TG and DBP are important factors affecting the coronary flow velocity.2.Metabolic syndrome is positively related to the coronary slow flow phenomenon and controlling metabolic syndrome may reduce the occurrence and development of coronary slow flow phenomenon.
