Purpose:To evaluate the refractive changes after retinal detachment surgery by investigating the refraction of the eyeballs pre-and post the surgeries, including scleral buckling surgery, vitrectomy, and combined phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation, and vitrectomy. And then find out the potential impact on visual quality.Method:A total number of 128 eyes were collected from December 2016 to January 2018 in our hospital for retinal detachment surgery.32 eyes underwent scleral buckling surgery.67 eyes underwent vitrectomy with the use of silicone oil,of which 18 eyes were 23 G group, and 49 eyes were 25 G group, and both of which are sutureless.Besides,29 eyes underwent combined phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation, and vitrectomy. What were observed included the corneal anterior and posterior astigmatism, axial length and anterior chamber depth. Results:As to the group of scleral buckling surgery, the corneal anterior and posterior astigmatism, axial length increased but the anterior chamber depth decreased. The changes of corneal astigmatism and anterior chamber depth could turn to the normal level after three months, but the axial length could continue exist to three months. For the group of vitrectomy, the corneal anterior and posterior astigmatism did not change so much, but the axial length increased and could continue exist to three months, and the decreasing of the anterior chamber depth could turn to the normal level by one to three months. The corneal anterior and posterior astigmatism, axial length and anterior chamber depth all increased after the combined surgery and the corneal anterior and posterior astigmatism changes could turn to the normal level after three months, but the changes of axial length and anterior chamber depth could continue exist to three months. Conclusion:The corneal anterior and posterior astigmatism, axial length increased and the anterior chamber depth decreased after scleral bulckling surgery. For the group of vitrectomy, the corneal anterior and posterior astigmatism did not change so much, but the axial length increased and the anterior chamber depth decreased. The corneal anterior and posterior astigmatism, axial length and anterior chamber depth all increased after the combined surgery.
