Abstract/Summary:
Objective: The purpose of this study was to observe the effects and behaviors of natural taurine compound that could be used in the prevention and treatment of damage caused by the hemorrhage of the Esophagus(connecting the Pharynx to the Gastric-organ/Stomach)and Gastric Varices(dilated sub-mucosal veins in the Stomach)caused by the disease;Hepatitis B Cirrhosis, and to further elaborate suggestive ideas that can be utilized as reference in the study, research, and accumulation of traditional Chinese medicine implemented as a prevention and treatment of Hepatitis B Cirrhosis. Methods: For the study and research;60 patients(biological subjects)diagnosed with HBV(Hepatitis B strand)Cirrhosis were divided into controlled groups and treatment groups by an unbiased random number table method(to ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of the study results).Patients in both groups received conventional symptomatic treatment of Esophageal and Gastric varices caused by Hepatitis B Cirrhosis, while the controlled group were given Propranolol Hydrochloride tablets orally(10mg per dosage,3 dosages/day).The treatment group were prescribed natural taurine compound via oral(consumption)therapy(once a day & twice a day randomly)for a duration of 3 months. The liver function(ALT,AST,ALB,TBIL),coagulation function(PT,PTA),The Liver Doppler Ultrasound in color {assessing blood flow through portal veins of the Liver and Spleen}(portal vein diameter, splenic vein diameter, spleen thickness),ascites depth and TCM syndrome score;before and after treatment were observed in the two groups of patients(biological subjects)without extracted evidence of esophagogastric variceal bleeding. After the course of treatment, the incidence of bleeding and the time period of bleeding in the two groups were followed up for 12 months.Results:(1)During the treatment,1 case of esophageal and gastric variceal rupture / hemorrhage occurred in the controlled group whilst 0 cases were recorded in the treatment group.(2)Liver function: After treatment,ALT,AST,TBIL and ALB water samples were obtained from the two groups; There was an improvement on average and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).After treatment,ALB and TBIL groups were compared and the difference were also statistically significant(P < 0.05).(3)Coagulation(blood state)function: After treatment,PT and PTA levels in the two groups were improved and the difference were as well;statistically significant(P < 0.05).After treatment,PT and PTA were compared, and the results had shown a significant difference(P < 0.05).(4)Results concluded from the color doppler ultrasound of the portal vein system: After treatment, the inner diameter of the portal vein and the thickness of the spleen were improved in both groups, with noticeable differences via statistics(P < 0.05).The splenic vein diameter in the control group decreased compared with that before treatment had begun, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).After treatment, there were statistically significant differences in portal vein diameter, splenic vein diameter and spleen thickness between the two groups(P<0.05).(5)Ascites depth comparisons: After treatment, the two groups of patients with ascites depth were significantly reduced, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.01);The difference of ascites depth between the two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P < 0.01).(6)Comparisons of TCM syndrome scores: After treatment, both groups of patients showed improvement in TCM syndrome scores, with statistically significant difference(P < 0.05).After treatment, there were statistically significant differences in TCM symptom scores between the two groups(P < 0.05).(7)Bleeding incidence during follow-up: The bleeding incidence in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.01).(8)The time period of bleeding during the follow-up period: Ruptured esophageal and gastric varices occurred.Among the patients with blood, the period of bleeding in the treatment group was longer than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant;Significance(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Concluded from the results of this study;Natural taurine compound treatment can reduce Hepatitis B Cirrhosis symptoms and damage in patients with incidents of esophageal gastric varices bleeding, whilst delaying the time a possible hemorrhage would occur, and improving: liver function, blood coagulation function, patients wellbeing with portal vein reliance thus developing a high power cycle state, ascites, and reduce the TCM symptom integral. There are no obvious adverse reactions, but the ruptured esophageal gastric varices bleeding control has a certain effect, and future implementation of treatment utilizing natural taurine compound has a certain guiding significance for advancements in clinical treatment of liver diseases.
