Objective Endoscopic technique is the most common and reliable method for diagnosing digestive diseases. It is also an effective method for treating gastrointestinal polyps, early cancer, and gallstones and so on.However, severely discomfortable feeling during regular gastrointestinal endoscopy and treatment or fear of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents often make the patient to give up examination and treatment, especially in elderly people. In recent years, with the development of painless endoscopy technology,it can improve the comfortable feeling of patients and reduce the pain, slowing the bowel movements, which is more conducive to early detection and timely treatment of lesions and reducing the hurt of large surgery to shorten the hospitalization period, people are increasingly inclined to choose painless ways. However,The use of anesthetic drugs also increases the possibility of complications. In this paper,we aim to analyze the efficacy?comfort as well as safety of painless and traditional endoscopy in elderly people, which can provide a theoretical basis for the choice among elderly patients. Methods 520 elderly patients(aged >65 years old)who were treated by gastrointestinal symptoms or diseases in the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from January 2016 to December 2018,all of them performed traditional or painless endoscopy;Among them, who are divided into two groups:260 persons without pain,260 persons for general examination. In the painless group, people were injected by fentanyl and propofol(the dose depends on individual situation),the general group only used dyclonine / tetracaine for local anesthesia;During the operation, the doctors monitor the patient's vital signs, and the nurses record the patient's reactions timely.Later, according to the recorded situation and ask the patient's situation,to compared and analyze the operation time, disease diagnosis rate, vital signs changes, satisfaction, adverse reactions and reactions. Results In terms of satisfaction, the painless group was significantly higher than the normal group(P<0.05).In the total detection rate of the gut disease, the painless group was significantly higher than the other one.In other aspects, there was no significant difference. Conclusion Traditional ways are effective and safe, but it will bring uncomfortable, which lead people to escape and refuse checking the disease, decreasing the rate of diagnosis;Obviously, the other group is more comfortable, with the high satisfaction.Especially performing colonoscopy, which is the main reason for the elderly to choose. As long as avoid the side effects of anesthesia medicine and enhance observing the operation process as well as abdominal signs. The painless way is also safe and effective. Therefore, for elderly patients, both the traditional and painless way are available.
