Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine combined with encircling acupuncture in the treatment of Acne vulgaris(phlegm and blood type).To compare the clinical effects of two different therapies in the treatment of Acne vulgaris(phlegm and blood type):Chinese medicine and Chinese medicine combined with encircling acupuncture.Methods The study included 71 Acne vulgaris(phlegm and blood type)patients,randomly divided into control group and treatment group.Both groups were given basic treatment for acne lesions:Acne needle clearance surgery+apply chlorotetracycline ointment to diminish inflammatio,fortnightly.The control group was treated with Taohong Erchen Decoction,twice a day after meals,one package with 200 ml,while the treatment group was treated with Taohong Erchen Decoction combined with needling around the lesion,once a week.The Global Acne Grading Systems score(GAGS)and Acne-specific quality of life questionnaire(Acne-Qol-19)were measured and recorded before treatment,4 weeks after treatment,8 weeks after treatment,and 3 months of follow-up.Using statistical methods to analyze the data in order to compare the therapeutice effect of two methods.Results 1.The clinical efficacy:After 8 weeks of treatment,the total effective rates of the control group and the treatment group were 70.60% and 93.33%.3 months of follow-up,the total effective rates were 64.70% and 86.67% in both groups.There were significant differences between groups(P<0.05).2.The skin lesions:After 8 weeks of treatment and at the follow-up,GAGS scores in both groups were significantly lower than those before the treatment,and there were significant differences between the groups(P<0.05).3.The quality of life:After 8 weeks of treatment,the total Acne-Qol-19 scores of the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment,but there were no significant differences between the 2 groups(P>0.05).The scores of four dimensions were higher than those before treatment,there were significant differences in Acne Symptoms between 2 groups(P<0.05).3 months of follow-up,the total scores were higher than those at the end of treatment,and there were significantl differencse between groups(P < 0.05).The scores of four dimensions were higher than those at the end of treatment,there were significant differences in Acne Symptoms and Self Perception between 2 groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with traditional Chinese medicine,traditional Chinese medicine combined with encircling acupuncture has some advantages in the treatment of Acne vulgaris(phlegm and blood type),such as clinical efficacy,skin lesions relief and long-term quality of life improvement.
