Objective: To analyze clinical diagnosis characteristics and treatment outcomes of three patients with skeletal Class ? malocclusion.Materials and Methods: Three cases of skeletal Class ? malocclusion was selected from orthodontic department of Fujian Stomatology Hospital.Patient A was a 23 years old female patient her main complaint was "anterior cross-bite".The skeletal malocclusion was Class ? and profile was concave with mandibular protrusion. Her mandibular planes angle was average. The patient presented with Class ? malocclusion on both side and anterior cross-bite.Upper midline was coordinated with facial midline and lower midline shift to right side 2mm.Model measurement revealed both upper and lower were slight dentition crowding.Combined orthodontics and orthognathic surgery was used in the treatment.Pre-surgical orthodontic treatment to relieve denture crowding, match the arch, remove the compensatory, and remove occlusal interference. Then orthognathic therapy was carried out bilateral sagittal split osteotomy to set back mandibular.Post-surgical orthodontic which including delicate adjustment of occlusion was carried out 6 weeks after orthognathic surgery Patient B was a 11 years old female patient, her main complaint was "anterior cross-bite".The skeletal malocclusion was Class ?,and profile was concave with maxillary retrusion and his mandibular planes was high angle. Her molar relationship was Class ? on both side and anterior cross-bite.Model measurement revealed moderate upper dentition crowding and slight lower dentition crowding. The patient was treated by functional appliance to move maxillary forward and to inhibit mandibular.Patient C was a 11 years old male patient whose main complaint was "irregular teeth".The skeletal relationship was Class ?,The profile was concave with maxillary retrusion. The mandibular planes was high angle. He presented with Class ? molar relationship on both side and anterior cross-bite.His model measurement revealed upper dentition crowding was 5mm and lower dentition 3mm crowding. The patient was treated by two phases: phases 1 of the orthopedic therapy with maxillary protraction to move maxillary forward.Phases 2 using the straightwire to align and level the dental arch, adjust occlusion and make a correct overbite and overjet. Results: After treatment all patients anterior cross-bite are corrected, the ideal overbite and overjet are achieved, dentition and occlusion are adjusted. All patients' facial profiles are improved. Conclusion: To achieve a good treatment effect, orthodontic treatment needs the correct diagnosis, suitable treatment design and effective implementation.
