Objective:In order to study the relationship between bruxism with sleep and heart rate, the selfdeveloped detection system was used to collect the changes of heart rate and the distribution of sleep cycles during bruxism, which provided basis for exploring the mechanism of bruxism.Methods:1.Prepare a questionnaire and randomly select 667 students from ShanXi Medical University to choose a bruxism patient who meets the criteria as a subject.2.Using selfdeveloped detection system, the system is divided into 3 parts.Device 1 is placed under the heart, device 2 is placed under the pillow, and device 3(eye mask)is placed on the eye to detect the heart rate and mandible of the subject when molars are detected.Vibration and micromotion signals of the eyeballs were measured continuously for 3 days per subject.3.After 3 days, the test equipment was retrieved, data was uploaded, and computer system analysis was performed.Rapid eye movement(REM,rapid eye movement)and non-rapid eye movement(NREM,non-rapid eye movement)were extracted, and average heart rate in REM and average heart rate in NREM when in non-bruxism period, heart rate 1 min before and 1 min after each bruxism in REM period, heart rate 1 min before and 1 min after each bruxism in NREM period, and total bruxism time per night, total number of bruxism per night, and whole night bruxism frequency.4.Paired T-test was used to analyze the heart rate 1min before and 1min after each bruxism in REM period,1min before and 1min after each bruxism in NREM period, the average REM and NREM heart rate in non-bruxism period,1min before molar and 1min after REM with the average REM heart rate in non-bruxism period,1 min before and 1 min after NREM with the average NREM rate during nonbruxism period.Paired T-test was used to count the total bruxism length, the total number of bruxism and the frequency of the entire bruxism.Results:1.There was no significant difference in REM and NREM mean heart rates during the non-bruxism examination by paired T test,P>0.05.2.There was a statistically significant difference between the REM average heart rate during the non-bruxism phase and 1 min before the REM period.P<0.05,there was no significant difference in heart rate between the REM average heart rate and 1min after bruxism,P>0.05.3.There was significant difference in heart rate between NREM mean heart rate and 1min before NREM in bruxism,P<0.05,There was no significant difference in heart rate after 1 min,P>0.05.4.The difference in heart rate between 1 min before and 1 min after each bruxism in REM period was statistically significant,P<0.05.5.1 min before and 1 min after each bruxism in NREM period. The difference in heart rate was statistically significant(P<0.05).6.The total length of bruxism, the number of total bruxism, and the frequency of bruxism during the whole night were statistically significant by paired T test,P<0.05.Conclusion:1.The heart rate before bruxism is higher than that after bruxism.2.Bruxism events mainly occurred during the REM period, indirectly reflecting the correlation between bruxism and sympathetic nerves.
