Esophageal cancer(EC)is one of the common gastrointestinal malignant tumors in China. The early clinical symptoms are not obvious. Most patients have been diagnosed with clinical symptoms such as progressive dysphagia, which have been in the middle and late stages and their 5-year overall survival rate is low.EC is prone to recurrence and distant metastasis, which seriously affects the clinical treatment of patients.More recently, the concept of circulating tumor cell(CTC)has also been introduced for EC.Through enrichment and detection of CTC in peripheral circulating blood, studies have confirmed that CTC is an independent risk factor for poor prognosis of EC patients.CTC has the ability to establish metastasis in distant organs.CTC may be associated with the diagnosis and treatment of EC.Prognosis, recurrence and metastasis are closely related.
