The morbidity and mortality rate of esophagus cancer are always at a high level. With the development of different species of image technologies, both the detecting rate of esophagus cancer and the accuracy of staging have been promoted. Therefore, clinical treatment and prognosis can be more precisely directed. The article mainly focus on how CT,MRI,EUS and PET/CT work on confirming esophagus tumor, regional lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis. For radiotherapy of esophagus cancer, the most common approach is using CT-based simulation and sketching target region on CT image.Because CT is easy to operate and can response the tumor condition in a proper way.MRI plays an important role in estimating regional lymph node metastasis.DWI evaluates lymph node by observing in vivo water molecular diffusion movement. And according to ADC,the curative effect of radiotherapy can be predicted to a certain extent.EUS has great advantage in detecting early esophagus cancer. The aspiration biopsy function of EUS-FNA can reflect histological change of esophagus and cytological change.PET/CT is the only technology for whole body scanning. It plays a viral role in detecting distant metastasis, especially for synchronous primary neoplasms. Therefore it can provide evidence to further treatment. To sum up,by combining different species of image, can bring each one's superiority to the full and improve the disadvantage of single image mode.It will make big difference in promoting the accuracy of diagnosis and radiotherapy in esophagus cancer.
