In China,rectal cancer has become the second most common gastrointestinal cancer.The primary goal of surgical treatment is the eradication of cancer and functional protection.Total Mesorectal Excision(TME)reduces the local recurrence of rectal cancer and the prognosis of patients.However,the urogenital dysfunction caused by pelvic autonomic nerve damage affects the postoperative quality of patients' life.At present,laparoscopic surgery has gradually become a common surgical method for rectal cancer surgery.In this article,we through the study of pelvic anatomy,to further clarify the route of the pelvic autonomic nerve.On the other hand,we explore how to perform a more perfect total mesorectal excision by precise surgical techniques at the foundation of the eradication of cancer and the protection of pelvic autonomic nerve to reduce or avoid postoperative urinary and sexual dysfunction.
