Hepatocellular carcinoma(Hepatocellular carcinoma,HCC)is a type of aggressive malignancy, the rate of incidence and mortality of which being an upward trend with each passing year. One half of it happens in our country, with enormous burden.Presently, the conventional methods to diagnose Hepatocellular carcinoma mainly depend on Imaging, such as computed tomography(CT)and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),and alpha fetoprotein(AFP),serum tumor biomarkers, whose level in blood and dynamic evolution play an essential role in diagnosis, but both with low diagnostic sensitivity. It is a pity that it has developed into the advanced stage when patients diagnosed, thus leading to poor prognosis in the overall.Small molecule RNAs(micro RNA,mi RNA)is a class of endogenous non-coding RNA,highly conservative, which is involved in cell growth, differentiation, metabolism, apoptosis as well as formation and development of tumor, which is stable in serum and tissue. As far as we know, micro RNAs also exist in other bodily fluids, for example, urine, tears, milk. In recent years, generous literatures established demonstrate that aberrant expression of micro RNAs is closely related to the formation mechanism and development of Hepatocellular carcinoma, and partial serum micro RNAs may have a broad prospect in the diagnosis and prognosis of Hepatocellular carcinoma, being potential markers for Hepatocellular carcinoma. In this concise and comprehensive paper,we mainly discuss the clinical value of detecting serum micro RNAs in Hepatocellular carcinoma to diagnose and predict prognosis, for the sake of making beneficial for the further research.
