Objective: This study was designed to detect the immunoexpression of ribosomal protein L41(RPL41),activating transcription factor 4(ATF4)and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in retinoblastoma and investigate their relationship with retinoblastoma clinical pathological features as well as the correlation between them. Methods: Collected 20 cases of paraffin-embed retinoblastoma tissue from Sheng Jing hospital.Use immunohistochemical staining to detected the expressions of RPL41,ATF4 and VEGF in retinoblastoma tissues and 7 cases of the adjacent uninvolved retina tissues.Analyzed their relationship with clinical pathological features of retinoblasoma the correlation between them.Result: The positive expression of RPL41(85.71%)in adjacent uninvolved retina tissues was higher than that in retinoblastoma tissues(35.00%),which showed significantly difference in retinoblastoma(P<0.05).The positive expressions of ATF4(80.00%)in retinoblastoma was higher than that in adjacent uninvolved retina tissues(14.29%),which showed highly significant difference in retinoblastoma(P<0.05).Positive VEGF immunoreactivity was observed 80.00% in retinoblastoma and 28.57% in adjacent uninvolved retina tissues, showed significantly difference in retinoblastoma(P<0.05).The expression of RPL41,ATF4 and VEGF had significantly relationship with the degree of differentiation(P<0.05)and no relationship with optic nerve invasion of retinoblastoma(P>0.05).There was a highly significant positive correlation between ATF4 and VEGF,and negative correlation between ATF4 and RPL41.Conclusion: This study suggest that the endoplasmic reticulum stress was participated in the development of retinoblastoma.Meanwhile, depressed expression of RPL41up-regulate the expression of ATF4 and VEGF and played important roles in the development invasion of retinoblastoma.
