[Purpose] With diabetes vocabulary as the research object, exploring the differences between the expression of consumers and diabetes specialist and CMeSH,this paper constructed the Chinese consumer health vocabulary to improving the medical information retrieval and utilization efficiency for diabetes consumers, promoting communication between doctors and consumers and popularizing the health education.[Methods] Firstly, combining the post controlled vocabulary theory, preparation principle with the related technology, based on the related research of consumer health vocabulary in domestic and abroad, this paper proposed scheme of Chinese consumer health vocabulary.Second, constructing the non professional medical dictionary with diabetes as the theme to improve the effect of word segmentation. Then,we analyzed the differences between consumer's vocabulary, doctor's vocabulary and CMeSH.Finally, constructing a Chinese consumer health vocabulary.[Results] Total of consumer preference display names is 133 and word frequency in total is 1,446.Extracted doctor preference expression in total is 116 and the total of word frequency is 1,175.Consumers vocabulary mainly concentrated in the exercise and diet, accounting for 20.82%.Doctors vocabulary mainly focused on diabetic complications and pathogenic mechanism, accounting for 28.34%.The consumer-doctor pairs is 76 in total, accounting for 57.58%.The results show that the CMeSH only covered 43.18% of the consumer vocabulary. There are 56.82% of the consumer vocabularies which are not covered, accounting for 42.53% of the total word frequency.[Conclusions] There are differences between the consumer preference display names and the doctor's expressions, there are differences between the consumer expressions and the professional medical terminology. The former difference is bidirectional, which is not conducive to the patient's participation in medical decision-making,but also is not conducive to the doctor's understanding of the health needs of patients and clearly convey their professional advice. The latter difference will hinder the consumers to search the health information, and to understand the concept of professional medical text, etc.the development of Chinese consumer health vocabulary can effectively reduce the difference.
