The Clinical Experience Of Professor Gong Hongtao In Treating Vertigo Using Traditional Chinese Medicine

Objective: It has a long history for traditional Chinese medicine in the differential diagnosis and treatment of vertigo,and it has an irreplaceable role for the outstanding curative effect.Professor Gong Hongtao has solid basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine and active clinical dialectical thinking,and the prescription medication is unique.With the theory combining with the clinical practice,he has gradually formed distinctive diagnosis and treatment method with its own characteristics.I have been learning from the teacher for three years and benefiting a great deal.Under the careful guidance of Professor Gong,I make a summary of the academic thought and experience in treating vertigo using in order to provide some new ideas and methods for the treatment of the disease.Methods: In the early period,I sorted out the scientific research results,papers,lectures,medical records and relevant postgraduate papers.At the same time,I reviewed related classic ancient books and writings about modern encephalopathy,and also explored and summarized professor's understanding of vertigo.Then I collected the cases of patients treated by Professor Gong Hongtao and admitted to the hospital with "vertigo" as their main diagnosis during September 2015 to January 2018.After that I entered the clinical data of the patients needed to be studied into the "Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Assistance System(V2.5)",revealing the rules of the prescription medication in the treatment of vertigo through data analysis to verify the dialectical thoughts of Professor Gong.Results: The rules of clinical medication of Professor Gong were as follows:The topten drugs were Gancao,Baizhu,Banxia,Huangqi,Fuling,Dangshen,Guizhi,Zhishi,Chenpi and Shanyao.The data analysis results of the classification of drug efficacy greater than 5% showed that the supplementing deficiency drugs were 18.5%,the expectorant antitussive antiasthmatic drugs were 11.1%,the antipyretic drugs were10.6%,the relieving drugs were 10.1%,the drugs for regulating Qi flow were 8.5%,the medicine for activating blood and removing stasis were 6.9% and the dispelling wind and wet medicine were 5.3%.The statistical results showed that the main use of drug was warm and flat in the property of herb,the drug was mostly sweet,symplectic and bitter,and the drugs were mainly into the spleen,lung,stomach and liver.Analysis of drug pair frequency and drug rule showed that the drugs recurred repeatedly were Dangshen,Fuling,Banxia,Huangqi,Guizhi and Baizhu.Conclusion:Professor Gong holds the opinion that the disease is the wind and the wind is in the liver,but the key of the disease lies in the spleen and stomach.At the same time,Yang deficiency and phlegm stasis occupy an important position in the disease.In the treatment we should focus on regulating the function of spleen and stomach,protecting the Yang Qi and stomach qi in real time,and giving consideration to relieving Qi Stagnancy in Liver,and also considering eliminating phlegm and dispelling the wind and removing heat from the blood to make Qi and blood active and harmonize yin and Yang,and then the disease could be cured.
