ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical efficiency of external therapy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),which including electroacupuncture on Zusanli point and external application of evodia on Shenque point,on septic patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction through observing the effect of external therapy of TCM on the clinical indicators of septic patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction. To explore beneficial treatment for clinical study.MethodsSixty septic patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction were collected and randomly divided into control group(n=30)and external treatment group(n=30)for this prospective randomized controlled research. Both groups were routinely treated according to International Guidelines for Management of Sepsis and Septic Shock 2016.Treatment group were additionally treated with external therapy of TCM,which including electroacupuncture on Zusanli point combining with external application of evodia on Shenque point. The course of treatment persisted for 7 days.Data before treatment and after 7 days of treatment was recorded, including 28 days mortality,APACHE-II score, gastrointestinal dysfunction score, gastrointestinal motility function, such as motilin(MLT),gastrin(GAS)and vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP);gastrointestinal immune barrier function, such as immune globulin,Tlymphocyte subsets;gastrointestinal mechanical barrier function, such as diamine oxidase(DAO),D-lactate(D-LAC).Results1.On severity and prognosis:There was no statistical difference in 28days mortality between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, treatment group could significantly reduce the APACHE-II score(P<0.05);2.On gastrointestinal dysfunction score:Compared with the control group, treatment group could significantly reduce the gastrointestinal dysfunction score(P<0.05);3.On gastrointestinal motility function:Compared with the control group, treatment group could significantly increase MLT(P<0.05),reduce GAS(P<0.05)and reduce VIP(P<0.05);4.On gastrointestinal immune barrier:Compared with the control group, treatment group could significantly increase lgG(P<0.05),increase lgA(P<0.05),increase CD3~+(P<0.05)and increase CD4~+/CD8~+(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference in lgM between the two groups(P>0.05).5.On gastrointestinal mechanical barrier:Compared with the control group, treatment group could significantly reduce DAO(P<0.05)and reduce D-LAC(P<0.05).ConclusionExternal therapy of TCM,which including electroacupuncture on Zusanli point and external application of evodia on Shenque point, can significantly improve the severity and prognosis of septic patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction and improve their symptoms, gastrointestinal motility function, gastrointestinal immune barrier and gastrointestinal mechanical barrier.
