Effect Of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty On Corneal Endothelium

Objective:To study the effects of corneal endothelium in the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG)for selective laser trabecularplasty(SLT).Method:Select 30 POAG patients(42 eyes)in the People's Hospital of GuangXi Zhuang Autonomous Region who was treated by SLT.Recording different parametes of the central corneal endothelial cells(8mm×8mm)examined by non-contact corneal endothelial cells machine.Comparing the inteaocular pressure(IOP)and counts of endothelial cells between pre-operation and post-operation with ANOVA for repeated measurement and LSD test.Result:1 hour after SLT,9 eyes showed dark spots in the corneal endothelium on corneal specular microscopy and dark spots are absorbed completely after 30 days.1 hour,l day,7 days and 30 days afte the treatment of SLT,the density of corneal endothelial cell density and the hexagonal cell percentage decreases,but there is no statistically significant difference;the average cell area.the maximum cell area and coefficient of variation increases,but there is no statistically significant difference;the central corneal thickness increases after 1 hour,and decreases after 1 day.7 days and 30 days,but there is no statistically significant difference;IOP decreases obviously and there is statistically significant difference;the 24-hour IOP of 30 days after SLT is lower than that before operation,and there is statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclution:SLT has effects on corneal endothelium to some extent,but it is still within the scope of the cornea compensatory.SLT has definite effects on the treatment of POAG.
