ObjectiveThe aim of the current study is to understand the current situation of exercise training in patients with stroke at sequelae stage and to discover the differences of exercise level among patients of different characters. We wish to,through this study, have a better knowledge about the patients' exercise status and provide references for targeted interventions so that the exercise rehabilitation in stroke patients at sequelae stage can be promoted, and the burden of the family and society can be reduced.MethodsA total of 193 patients with stroke at sequelae stage were included in the current survey through convenient sampling. All subjects accepted the investigation of questionnaires of general data and amateur exercise level.SPSS 24.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data, and the test level is ?=0.05.Results1.The average exercise level of patients with stroke at sequelae stage was 8.1 Mets-h/week,which belonged to the low exercise level. In details, there were 109 patients(56.5%)belonged to the non-exercise level,43 patients(22.3%)belonged to the low exercise group, and 31 patients(16.1%)belonged to the middle exercise level. The exercise modes patients preferred included walking and climbing stairs, which are easy to perform and do not require high technology and skill. There were 64.8% of the patients participated in a single mode of exercise during a long time, and only 6.7% of patients participated in more than three kinds of exercise.2.There were statistical differences in the exercise level among patients of different characters, including educational degree, working status, marital status, primary caregiver, exercise habit, and the degree of self-care.Specifically,the exercise level in the patients of primary school and illiterate patients was lower than patients of higher educational degree;the exercise level in the unemployed patients was relatively lower;patients who has accompany were more likely to exercise than those alone;patients with lower self-care ability tended to exercise less.Patients who hold the idea that the exercise was not helpful for their rehabilitation or exercise was highly risky and the patients who lack of families' supervision and encouragement or lack of exercise training furniture in the dwelling community had lower level of exercise training.3.The result from multiple linear regression analysis showed that the two factors, whether to have exercise habit after stroke and whether to have families' encouragement on exercise, were the main factors that influence the exercise levels in these patients with stroke at sequelae stage, which accounted for 33.1% of the total variation of exercise level.Conclusions1.The exercise level of the patients with stroke at sequelae stage is not ideal and belongs to the non-exercise level.2.Most of the patients only participate in a single easy exercise mode, which may relate to their exercise skills deficiency and the restriction of exercise conditions.3.Patients of different educational degrees, working statuses, marital status, primary caregivers, exercise habits, and the degrees of self-care have different exercise levels. The exercise level in the patients of lower educational degrees, the unemployed patients, patients who has no accompany, patients with lower self-care ability and the ones living in the communities without exercise training furniture had lower level of exercise training.4.Having the habit of doing regular exercise and families' encouragement are the main factors influencing exercise level in the patients with stroke at sequelae stage.
