Objective Chronic schizophrenia(CSP)is often associated with metabolic syndrome(MS),which seriously affects the outcome of schizophrenia.High intensity interval training(HIIT)refers to the high intensity exercise repeatedly in a short period of time, which is a training method with low intensity exercise or resting completely in two times between movements. The applicable objects of HIIT has shifted from professional athletes to ordinary people, chronic patients, patients with metabolic syndrome,or even heart disease. This research wants to study the effects of HIIT on metabolic syndrome and mental symptoms in patients with CSP associated with MS.Methods 60 cases of CSP complicated with MS were randomly divided into the study group and the control group, with 30 cases in each group. The two groups all maintained the original drug treatment program. The control group was carried out general exercise training, and the study group was given HIIT.The follows were compared at the baseline,at the end of the 3 month after training and at the end of the 6 month after training:(1)waist circumference,BMI,WHR;(2)MAP,HR;(3)fins,FBG,2h PPG,Hb A1c;(4)TC,TG,LDLC,HDL-C;(5)the negative scale, positive scale, general psychopathology scale and PANSS total score. Results There were no statistical difference in Research Indicators at the baseline period in the two groups(P>0.05).(1)There were no significant difference in waist circumference and WHR at the end of 3 months after training in the two groups(P>0.05),The BMI in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).At the end of 6 months after training, the waist circumference,WHR and BMI in the study group were all less than those in the control group(P<0.05).(2)At the end of 3 months after training, there were no significant difference in MAP and HR in the two groups(P>0.05),and at the end of 6 months after training,MAP and HR in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).(3)At the end of 3 months,6 months after training,fins,FBG,2h PPG and Hb A1 c in the study group were all lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).(4)At the end of 3 months,6 months after training,TC,TG,LDL-C in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),and HDL-C was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).(5)At the end of 3 months after training,PANSS total score in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),at the end of 6 months after training, the negative scale, the general psychopathology scale and PANSS total score in the study group were all lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),while the positive scale had no significant difference in the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion(1)HIIT reduced waist circumference,BMI and WHR in patients with CSP complicated with MS,which improved the general condition in patients with CSP complicated with MS;(2)HIIT reduced MAP and HR,which improved cardiovascular function in patients with CSP complicated with MS;(3)HIIT decreased fins,FBG,2h,PPG Hb A1 c,which improved the high blood glucose in patients with CSP complicated with MS;(4)HIIT decreased TC,TG,LDL-C,increased HDL-C,which improved the blood lipid level in patients with CSP complicated with MS;(5)HIIT decreased the negative scale, the general psychopathology scale and PANSS total score, which improved mental symptoms in patients with CSP complicated with MS.
