Malocclusion is a common multiple oral disease that affects not only oral func-tion but also appearance.In recent years,with the development of economy in China,the living standard has improved rapidly.People pay more and more attention to oral health and facial appearance.Orthodontics is achieved by applying proper orthodon-tic forces to promote alveolar bone remodeling.The size and direction of orthodontic force are closely related to the type of teeth.If the orthodontic force is too small,the orthodontic effect can not be reached.If the orthodontic force is too large or the direction is not correct,in severe cases,it may lead to necrosis of the dental nerve and even tooth decay.Therefore,the correct classification of teeth plays a key role in orthodontics.The evaluation of malocclusion is based on the relationship between teeth occlusion.It is particularly important to improve the intersection speed of large number of triangular faces in collision detection.A classification algorithm based on the geometrical characteristics of teeth is put forward.We first reconstruct the 3D model according to the scan data of the tooth surface,and then use ellipses to fit the envelope of a single jaw projection.After the initial classification label is obtained from the location relation,the logistic logic re-gression is used to do the two class learning,and the local tooth class is modified to obtain the final label.This algorithm makes the accuracy rate of single tooth classi-fication in each jaw more than ninety-five percent,and the accuracy of each single jaw classification is more than ninety percent.In the triangle face collision detection algorithm,the minimum bounding box is used to eliminate a large number of disjoint triangular pairs,and the determination of the intersection of the space two triangles is degraded into the relationship between the line segment and the triangle,which further reduces the time consumed by the collision detection.Through the study of this paper,we get the automatic tooth classification al-gorithm,which can improve the efficiency of Orthodontics,and provide theoretical support for the application of digital technology in orthodontics.
