| Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Holliday junction–recognizing protein(HJURP)in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods: In this study,we detected the expression of HJURP protein in samples of 176 patients with HCC,and based on this,we divided the patients into three cohorts: low expression of HJURP,medium expression of HJURP and high expression of HJURP.We used a chi-square test to analyze the relationship between HJURP expression and clinicopathologic factors.Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test were used to define the survival significance of HJURP,and Cox regression model was used to determine independent prognostic factors.P < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: In our study,Real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis revealed that the expression of HJURP was significantly higher in HCC tissues than that in the corresponding normal liver tissues.Univariate analysis confirmed that high HJURP expression was remarkably associated with poorer overall survival rates(P=0.037),as well as gender(P=0.021),history of hepatitis(P=0.010),smoking history(P=0.018),preoperative AFP(P=0.029),tumor envelope(P=0.010),cancer thrombus(P=0.043)and Barcelona clinic liver cancer stage(P=0.041).Multivariate analysis confirmed that high HJURP expression acted as an independent prognostic risk factor of unfavorable prognosis.conclusion:1.The expression level of HJURP mRNA in HCC tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues.2.The expression level of HJURP mRNA was related to the postoperative AFP level and the presence or absence of tumor envelope.3.The expression of HJURP mRNA has no relation with the recurrence and metastasis time of HCC patients.4.HJURP mRNA expression levels correlate with overall survival time of patients with HCC after surgery. |
