In recent years,the public in our country has paid more and more attenti on to the health problems.However,the mental health problems still have not caused widespread cognition.There are many misunderstandings about the ment al diseases.The people with mental diseases are unwilling to admit or accept t he treatment.Although the concept of health communication is carried out with in the scope of the research scholars,it has not been well spread and develop ed within the public cognition.At present,there are more than 26 million pati ents with melancholia in our country,and the number is still on the rise.How ever,less than 10% of them are treated.Zhou Dongfeng,the chairman of the Psychiatric Branch of the Chinese Medical Association,points out that the inci dence of melancholia in Chinese population is about 3-5%,while 10-15% of s uicides among melancholia patients.According to media reports,experts who at tended the Asian Spirit Science Summit in Beijing warned that people should c orrectly understand melancholia and improve the rate of seeking medical treatm ent for melancholia people.This shows that the healthy spread of melancholia has a crucial impact on the health.Traditional Chinese media have certain rep orts on melancholia,but there are still many problems and deficiencies in allas pects.This study uses content analysis and text analysis as the main research me thods to analyze the reports of melancholia on two print media with relatively broad influence of "The Beijing News" and Hong Kong "Wen Hui Bao".Takin g 2010-2016 as the time node,this thesis explores the similarities and differen ces of melancholia patients' images in the coverage of these two newspapers;whether there are any differences in the form,theme,tendency,etc.Furthermor e it analyzes the media's tendency of "stigmatization" in view of framing mela ncholia patients' images in contrast with the self-image presentation of melanch olia patients.Finally,according to the findings of the research,there are stillmany problems in the media coverage of existing healthy communication field of melancholia,and the patient's image has not been accurately and objectivel y entered the public visions.
